Because curriculum requires regular and sitrict summative assesment in my country it is hard students to reach real-world connection. The students are responsible  for a lot of courses and tasks  so for only one course we haven't enough time to engage students with real-world connection. 

Students always eager to find solutions to problems or answer riddles. So, in our lessons we need to encourage students to solve problems and find solutions. 
Selecting a good question is important . In this video it is apparent that new things start off very chaotic before getting in shape. Sandra Fay talked about the challenges they had to face and the worries and anxieties they had to go through. Though maths is not my subject, it was quite clear concerning the steps one has to take in order to organize and monitor groups and project-based teaching and learning. The key words of such an endeavor are encouragement, appetite, willingness to collaborate and sharing, persistence (especially when one has to overcome fears and hesitations). The biggest challenge is to stick to the procedure, to use cross curricular links and of course bring in real life situations into the learning environment. Could this project work in a strict exam system (like the one which exists in Greek secondary education), with a non-flexible curriculum?

However, I think that even if very helpful it is not the only key to success. The enthusiasm was also essential. I focused on the certasin facts, which for me were essential :
1. there was a research on the current situation, and the actions were based on the existing need, not only someones ideas.
2. it involved not olne students collaborative work but also demanded teachers to share their ideas, experiences, tips. All of these prevent being overworked.

Even if maths is not the subject I teach, it impressed me how the project is not only a PBL but involves also all the community of teachers and the school support. Teacher can collaborate and also receive external support for IT devices. Teacher have all they need to develop the project and if they don’t have IT competences they can be supported by the school.

Sandra Fay has explained the step by step process that was carried out in her school in Ireland to put aside "the old and traditional ways of teaching and learning Maths" which didn't have positive outcomes for every student and the swap that took place in school to implement a totally different approach. Sandra mentioned the 5 step process that was carried out to accomplish this new approach on Maths teaching and learning. As far as I'm concerned I think this is extraordinary and should be extended to the other subjects in the curriculum. Sometimes I think that we are no more primary school teachers; we are studying as  university students. In my school we are going along a similar path. 
I use to put problem solving, peer work, tutoring and collaborative learning at the centre of math .
The challenges I propose let children collaborate, make efforts, test their capabilities, fire their "synapses" and work with what they know. 
And it really works. They enjoy and love Math, they help each other, move forward. The only thing I have to add is that this kind of path needs its own time, with no hurry.
