         <description><![CDATA[<div>Rutherford's gold foil experiment proved that the positive charge in an atom was concentrated in the middle in a spaced called the nucleus. <br><br>This has had an impact on how we view science today because we were later able to determine the number of protons in the nucleus which lead to the development of the periodic table.</div>]]></description>
