He did not think this was right, he could see this difference in respect especially when him and his family went to restaurant, and cinemas. One day Martin and his father went to a shoe store, the clerk told them to go to the back of the store. "We do not serve coloured in the front of the store". 

When he was five he started school at Yonge Street Elementary School in Atlanta. He started school before the age of six,  which was the legal age that children could start school. His beliefs consisted of race equality, this meaning that everyone should be treated equally.  He was very optimistic as a child as he could see that darker people were treated differently to white people and tried to do something about it. A part of his Christian beliefs it was also that everybody should be treated the same.

He showed such courage to stand for what he believed in which I think was very bold of him. I know if something like this was happening to me I wouldn't have the courage to say anything about it.
