If a student is unable to submit a within-semester assessment task (e.g. assignment) on or by the due date, the penalty will be 5% per calendar day. Assessments that are submitted more than 7 calendar days after the due date will be accepted, but will receive a grade of zero (0).

For an assessment to be fully submitted, the submission status needs to be green (illustration above). This means that the student cannot make any changes. Most students tend to leave it in Draft mode (yellow), which means that it has not been submitted.

When using email to communicate with lecturers or the coordinator, you should always make sure that your message contains the following:

Your email subject must contain the unit code and briefly describes the nature of your query or request.
Address your lecturer appropriately.
State your question or request clearly and concisely on the message body (avoid using Gpts to support you in writing the email as it may not help you send the message across)
Insert a signature at the end of your email that contains:

a. your name in full

b. your student number

Please make sure that you use only one email thread when you want to discuss one subject area.

Your lecturer will inform you if there are additional requirements for communicating by email.

While lecturers cannot be available online all day, in normal circumstances your lecturer will reply within 3 working days.

A deferred exam is only granted to a student whose absence is on acceptable grounds which is determined by the College Principal.

An application for a deferred assessment should be made within 3 calendar days of the relevant exam.

All deferred assessments will be scheduled during the below-mentioned time period,

• Week 8 - for assessments scheduled during weeks 1 to 6

• Week 12 - for assessments scheduled during weeks 7 to 10

• Week 14 - for assessments scheduled during weeks 11, 12 and final exams
