They do support the students through college and career goals depending on what age range they are working with like high schools. School counselors would need their master's degree in counseling or another field.

School psychologists are more about mental health but also focus on students' academics social and behavioral needs. They can do typical assessments, crisis management and intervention plans. They will collaborate with teacher, families and others to help the student.

I learned the difference between school psychologist and school counselor. They can be confusing by their names and can be interpreted as the same thing. They both are in position to support the students mental health and academics but their role has differences.

School psychologist are about having a one on one with students and a selective amount. They work with students, teachers, and family to improve their behavior and/or academics. School psychologists will try to improve and push new innovation into the system by collecting data.

School counselors are set in a school-wide students, they meet with mostly every student they can so they can focus on the students college readiness. They are making sure the students have the support in order to succeed after k-12 school.

Both career are trying improve and support the students.

I would say that I am more interested in being a school psychologist, I would like to work students and be able to change the system later on.

I would want to know more about about this career and the pay especially in California and in the Sacramento area.
