Therefore to answer the question, I think the most important and relevant element is digital access and digital welfare. 

Why digital access? It is undeniable that even if we are living in the 21st century, there are still millions of people out there particularly teenagers who are deprived of digital access and opportunity mainly because of poverty. To tell you a story, I have a cousin who does not have any experience of computers, and because of that, it was hard for him to adapt knowing that computer literacy is a necessity in college most especially during the pandemic where students are forced to study online. I felt sorry because I know that there is inequality, being unequal to chances and opportunities. I believe that digital citizenship starts with digital access and as teenagers, we can help them out through sharing our knowledge to them, and through becoming advocates of equal digital access. Most significantly, instead of excluding those who are deprived, we must uplift them because our generation needs more proactive, empathetic, and responsible digital citizens that would contribute in making the world a better place. 

Why digital welfare? "Health is foundational, it must come first before anything", however, this saying is disregarded by millions of teenagers because of how reckless they are with their health. I believe that most of them are victims of addiction particularly with gadgets, I know it because I myself is also a victim. We can't deny the fact that this generation are chained by gadgets which causes harm particularly to one's health. I myself, stayed up until dawn watching videos on social media, online chatting, and playing online games, and with that, being rebuked by my mother is a usual thing to me nowadays. "Nak, tama na ng selpon" but I still continued. In general, information does not only satisfies our curiosity or the questions inside our minds, it is also a bridge for us understand things better and be able to have the awareness about different matters.  Meanwhile, focusing on my perspective as a student, there a lot of reasons why information is a necessity, a lot of instances that gave me a reason to look for answers in order to accomplish a goal. 

The first instance out of many is conducting a research. Starting from first year high school up until Grade 10, we have this type of research called SIP or Science Investigatory Project wherein we are tasked to make an innovative product and researches for all its scope, including its importance to the society, its nature, materials to be used, and a lot more aspects. With that, searching for information is the main key towards the accomplishment of this task, information that are authentic and proven by authorities.  

The second instance is the memory that I can't still forget because of how nerve-racking it was for me. It happened when I was still in elementary, it was when our teacher in Arts gave us a project where we'll have to create an advent wreath out of recyclable materials. I am completely clueless about what to do because I was not able to attend the class on which she did the procedures on making the project. I immediately search information on the internet where  I found a video on YouTube on how to do it. Thankfully, I was able to pas it on time and got a perfect score. 

The third instance is what I always do ever since the first semester of this school year started, it is one of the tasks that SHS students must do, which is studying in advance in order to be prepared during class discussion. Even how simple it is, studying in advance is considered as searching for information, searching through reading books, handouts, and learning materials that I found on the internet.

As a gen z, I can't deny the fact that I myself became an instrument of spreading fake news and stopping fake news as well; there were instances where I was corrected by someone and there were also instances where I corrected someone. 

The instance where I was corrected by someone happened when I was in first year high school, I was a student who was an ignorant of the consequences of social media. During those times, posting became my habit. Only you could have imagined how frequent I am in sharing posts and creating stories. One day, I shared a post with a misleading caption and honestly I don't exactly remember how it was constructed but it was something like "ayo nalang way klase ugma" or "thankfully, there wouldn't be a class tomorrow" in english translation. After what I've done, my friend called me and told me that I've expressed myself too much and what the info I've shared was wrong. 

Through that experience, I began to discern and evaluate first what I  share not just on social media but in day to day life. I've also learned that we must not tolerate others to keep on spreading hoaxes as it would only lead to confusions, which is why, when I noticed my classmate is spreading a false information that there would be a quiz on the following days, I immediately said to the whole class right after she was done speaking that there wouldn't be a quiz and  that they could check what our subject teacher said in the google chat

After all those instances, I still considered our relationship as healthy as it was before because we shouldn't view correcting someone or being corrected by someone as a form of insult. Other than that, I also believe that the learnings I had in advertisement literacy would be a tremendous contribution to the society where I belong.

As for my own thought,  I would use these to teach/influence those whom I can reach such as my friends and relatives. I wouldn't just tell them but I would make them realize through giving them real-life scenarios that analyzing and examining first the message of any advertisement is pretty much relevant in today's generation as it may help us to discern the effectiveness of a product and to avoid being lied to. Other than that, it may help us choose which product is better, products that are worth our money. Honestly speaking, I've actually done the similar thing before when my mother was having a hard time choosing between the toothpaste products named Colgate and Hapee. I immediately said "kanang Colgate ma, kay ana sa advertise na it is the number #1 brand recommended by doctors" 

Moreover, advertising is not just about promoting a product 
to generate sales but it also shares valuable and informative messages that benefit the general public. Well I have learned that this concept refers to the creation of the mind in which an individual has produced. Creation which includes songs, trademark, article, paintings, and a lot more. In addition, intellectual property comes with rights, rights that is often granted to the creator wherein it would ensure that their work would be protected from those who desires to use it. 

To answer the question, there are various ways for me to be be able to apply what I learned in intellectual property in ensuring that I am respecting the rights of creators while still effectively communicating with my ideas. The first one is through acknowledgement. There are instances wherein I tend to use the work of others without acknowledging the authors who created it. To give an example, whenever we are tasked as students to produce videos, I always use songs as a background music as I pretty much think that it sets the mood, and whenever I do it, I always fail to acknowledge the creator or even mention that it is not my work as I'm not aware that I am actually disrespecting the author's rights. Moving on, acknowledging also applies om derivative work or when we modify someone's work. Lastly, through assessing whether the work is already considered a public domain or the accessibility of the original work 50 years after the creator's death. It is best to always consider and check whether it can be recreated or not. 

In conclusion, I would be able to respect the rights of the creator while effectively communicating with my ideas through assessment and acknowledgement. It was a game where the most common strategies of those people who spread false and misleading information were taught. Other the other hand, the second game aims to help us avoid disinformation by putting ourselves into the shoes of those who create it, this game exposes their tactics and methods.  However, as I played the game, I've realized that it is actually an interesting game. Why? because I had the chance to become the influencer with the goal of spreading fake news about the virus. It's like some sort of role playing

Moreover, it was not just fun but it was educational as well as it teaches us how to avoid those people who disinforms by being aware of the things that they do.  It taught me that these people has a plan behind their intentions. A plan which includes the concept of targeting its audience, of constructing sentences that seems believable, and of what content should that person discuss. 

Most importantly, I didn't just learned their way of disinforming you but also the essence of having a resistance.  I have learned that it is crucial especially nowadays where social media is widely spread. With that, I was nervous on how my journey in MIL would turn out, but despite those words, I told myself that every journey is difficult what's important is the take away that you would get out of it. That is why I am thankful beause I can confidently say that I learned a lot from my MIL journey. Starting from being a good digital citizenship, down to the power of social media. In this journey, I was able to have an idea about being a literate in different aspects such as in news, advertisement, and a lot more. 

This subject did not just widen my knowledge but it made my perspective clearer about the role of media in society. When I was younger, I had a perspective that media is all good and that it is really helpful for every people everywhere and every time as it is existent and present everywhere. However, MIL showed me how media can be destructive  and taught me that its importance also comes with unbearable factors, things that can influence us greatly which would then change the society that we lived in. With that, I was able to contemplate and strive to become a good consumer of information. 

Through all the lessons I've learned, I began changing my ways, even the simplest things. For instance, I forbid any piece of information from various media to easily influence me because I learned that media can really deteriorate how we think, act and behave.  Before we let it get into us, we must first assess and analyze if that message is right and credible. Another change that I did is my way of responding to messages. You know, because of this subject I always make sure that my replies are polite. Other than that, I am also proud of myself because I secured my safety in the digital world more than ever.
