What they are?
Focus on collaborating with their targeted individuals/consumers through creative posts and information sharing.

How they can be used in the field of marketing?
On Instagram, companies can reach out to followers through posts on their account to market their product or service. However, they may also pay to have "sponsored" posts on targeted individuals feeds regardless if they follow them or not.

Examples:
- Clothing Stores (sharing information on sales, trends, etc.)
- Restaurants (highlighting meal specials, etc.)

Benefits:
Incredibly wide audience reach because Instagram has approximately 600 million users per month.

Limitations:
Although there is a substantial amount of users, the demographic typically does not include people that would be our parents or grandparents age.

Instagram sponsored posts can also be "hidden" or "removed" if the user does not like the post that was placed on their feed. The brand may also post too often/content the follower does not want anymore and they can simply unfollow at the click of a button to stop seeing their content.

What they are?
A commercial message sent to a targeted group of people. The e-mail often contains advertisements and requests for business.

How they can be used in the field of marketing?
Upon consumers online purchase, the company can retain the individuals email to continue to introduce them to new products, promotions, and exclusive services through e-mail signups.

Examples:
- Airlines
- Retailers
- Restaurants
- Amazon.ca (Because you bought this, you may like...)

Benefits:
Often consumers have their email accounts linked to their mobile devices and receive emails "on the go" each and everyday. The email is received almost instantaneously.

Limitations:
Consumers have the ability to unsubscribe to the companies marketed emails and stop receiving their content whenever desired.

Like social media, many consumers that receive e-mails as a form of marketing are from a younger demographic so the older demographic may not be targeted.
