         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><p>Date (1801-1861)</p></li><li><p>Gold rush(1848)</p></li><li><p>description- Gold was found at Sutter's mill and people from all over the country and world began coming to California.</p></li><li><p>Cause- the cause was that gold was found and people all over the world began to go to California for gold. </p></li><li><p>Effect- the effect was population growth a lot of people all over the world went to Cali for gold and economic impact the gold rush boosted the economy. </p></li><li><p>Perspective- the people who were affected by this event were the miners many faced many injury's and some died and some had harsh conditions. Native Americans their lands got invaded by all the people coming from all over the world and they all brought some type of violence or diseases. </p></li><li><p>   connections- The wounded knee, it impacted the native Americans too the natives were pushed on reservation.</p></li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><p>Date (1859)</p></li><li><p>Pottawatomie Massacre(1856)</p></li><li><p>description- their was a problem in Kansas whether it should be a free state or a slave state so the anti slavery attacked the pro slavery and John brown and a group of his followers went into pro slavery homes and killed them because Brown believed that violent action was necessary to combat pro slavery forces then thing escalated fast and there were a bunch of killings.</p></li><li><p>cause- territory, whether Kansas should be a free or a slaved state. and John browns beliefs was a part of a cause because he believed that slavery was a sin and that could only be eradicated through violence. </p></li><li><p>Effect- The violence, the massacre intensified both pro and anti slavery communities were attacking and this led to a lot of blood. </p></li><li><p>Perspective- the people who were most effected by this event were John browns followers and family they were devastated by the violence.</p></li><li><p>connections- Harper's ferry, Harper's sons were killed just like John browns sons </p></li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><p>Date (1861)</p></li><li><p>Battle of Gettysburg (1863)</p></li><li><p>Description- this Battle was to relive pressure on Virginia's farms, and to make peace with the northern politicians.</p></li><li><p>cause- the cause was to relive pressure on Virginia's farms and to pressure the north so that the southern farmers could harvest their crop in peace and not worrying about the battle.</p></li><li><p>Effect- a lot of soldiers were killed around 51,000 soilders were killed wounded or were missing. another effect was the boost of morale when they won it boosted their morale that union could beat Lee's army.</p></li><li><p>Perspective- the people who were most effected were the union soilders around 51,000 soilders were killed wounded or missing. And local residents the Battle destroyed a lot of peoples homes and farms. </p></li><li><p>Connections- Bleeding Kansas, their was a lot of blood during this battle just like bleeding Kansas.   </p></li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><p>Date (1865)</p></li><li><p>13th amendment </p></li><li><p>Description- this amendment was made by Abraham Lincoln this was to eliminate slavery this amendment was passed after the civil war.</p></li><li><p> Cause- Economic factors the north did not rely on slavery but the south was heavily dependent on slavery. Political tensions the new states had trouble figuring out if they would be a free state or a slave state. </p></li><li><p>effect- abolition on slavery after this amendment was made there was no more slavery. Economic impact the south relied on their slaves to do their work now they had to come up with a new way to do the work. </p></li><li><p>Perspective- enslaved African Americans they were free no more slavery and the southern plantation owners they had to find a new way to operate their plantation.</p></li><li><p>connections- John brown he was against slavery. </p></li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><p>Compromise of 1850</p></li><li><p>Description- States acquired in Mexican war and would be open to slavery and Texas, New Mexico, and Utah became slave states California free</p></li><li><p>Cause- territory, after the Mexican-American war the United states got new territory like California, New Mexico and Utah and the debate was about if the states were going to be slave states or non slave states </p></li><li><p>Effects- temporary relief the compromise provided a temporary solution to figure out what the states will be and delayed the civil war by a decade giving both side to get ready for war.</p></li><li><p>Perspective- the people who were most affected by this event were enslaved people and free African Americans, this made it more easier for slave owners to recapture escaped slaves and free slaves.</p></li><li><p>John brown he said it would take a war to end slavery           </p></li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><p>Raid on Harpers Ferry (1859)</p></li><li><p>description- it would take a war to end slavery starts his attack in Virginia there were weapons at Harper's ferry his sons were killed Harper was arrested and killed </p></li><li><p>cause- john browns desire to end slavery </p></li><li><p>effect- increased tensions the raid got hectic and caught the attention of the north and south that would eventually lead to the civil war</p></li><li><p>Perspective- the people who were most effected by this event were the enslaved people some saw John brown as a hero and others were scared and saw the potential the slave owners could get.</p></li><li><p>connections-  Pottawatomie Massacre, basically the same story both massacres </p></li></ul>]]></description>

         <title>Sherman&#39;s March</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><p>Sherman's March (1864)</p></li><li><p>Description- this march was to cripple the confederacy's ability to battle in war so they marched 300 miles and destroyed everything like farms/crops railroads factories and stole peoples food livestock and supplies. </p></li><li><p>cause- the cause was a strategy used by the military so the confederacy would be weak at war.</p></li><li><p>Effect- union won the war and by this it boosted their morale. And reconstruction challenges with the deconstruction of the march it took years to rebuild the south. </p></li><li><p>perspective- the people who were most effected by this were southern civilians their homes farms were destroyed. </p></li><li><p>connections the Westward expansion they marched like shermans march but they didn't destroy anything. </p></li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><p> 14th Amendment (1868)</p></li><li><p>description- this amendment grants citizenship to everyone that was born or naturalized in the United States. </p></li><li><p>Cause- End of slavery when slavery ended their were questions if the freed African Americans were legal or not. </p></li><li><p>Effect- Citizenship and equal protection this made anyone who was born in the united states a citizen.</p></li><li><p>Perspective- the people who were most effected by this were the African Americans particularly those who were enslaved this granted them their citizenship.</p></li><li><p>connections- the 13th amendment this was a part of it this freed the slaves and the 14th gave them their citizenship.  </p></li></ul>]]></description>
