A rise in subway fare prices caused these demonstrations, first started by university students. Thousands of Chilean citizens are engaging in these protests, due to the diminishing of the middle class in their country. This is important to globalization, due to its past success. For example, the people of Ecuador and Argentina were in a similar position of financial disadvantages, riots of this magnitude were powerful enough to create government change, now Chile is hoping for the same outcome.

Before the election took place there was speculation that foul play could occur. During the collection of votes, the process was halted for no apparent reason, when the collection process started again it swung in Evo Morales' favor. This suspicious behavior triggered riots in cities such as Potosi and Tarija. This is important to globalization because its suspicious behavior could be a possible direct violation of democracy, and the Bolivian people reluctant to engage in a socialist system, which has been the demise of Venezuela.

They came up with an app to help solve their verification issues, which in turn helped roughly 73% of citizens regain voting rights. This is a concern for the large number of minority Muslims in India that are heavily dependent on their right to vote, considering that the president can have a substantial influence on how safe society is for them. Unfortunately, globalization may be trending in a way that is prohibiting one of the world's key concepts, democracy.

The police fired a water cannon containing water mixed with a blue dye at people who were standing in front of a mosque. Officials from the police department apologized for the mess and apparent mistake, but witnesses believe it was intentional. This demonstrates that a lack of democracy contributes to the oppression of not only people, but people groups such as religion, race, sexual orientation, etc.
