My experience in Coatepec de bateas or San Nicolas Coatepec is summarized in a social-religious experience, this trip has given me the opportunity to know and study the form of human interaction that the inhabitants of Coatepec have. The people are very friendly and very open to the oublico so that they know its history and the long history of traditions that the town has. I have really been amazed since I had the opportunity to meet Miguel, a very spiritual and friendly person, who tells us about his experience interpreting Jesus of Nazareth during Holy Week. In addition, Coatepec has a very kind person named Adan, who has the historical records of Coatepec throughout time, he shares that he has 40% of the complete information, he only seeks to finish and manage to finish the complete history of his place of origin . From personal experience I totally recommend visiting San Nicolas Coatepec because it is a place between mountains and many natural landscapes that are worth knowing.

In this image we can see a large rock, this is located on the sacred mountain of Hueyamalucan in the town of San Jerónimo Acazulco in Ndöngü as the locals refer to it. Last year I had the opportunity to attend a ritual offering with the Otomíes of this region of the state of Mexico. San Jerónimo Acazulco is located in the municipality of Ocoyoacac in the State of Mexico, the meeting was on Friday, November 18 at 10:00 pm to climb the mountain and begin the pre-Hispanic celebrations that the Yühü still carry out. These offerings have to be made to each rock scattered throughout the mountain in specific places of divinity and knowledge, first a ritual of gratitude, protection and presentation of the offering was carried out, where I was able to observe various foods and plants such as: pulque, water , atole, guavas, medicinal plants, rosemary, bougainvillea, fennel, arnica, tlaxcales, pinole, honey, corn, beans, oranges, cocoa and tobacco, to name a few, the ritual was at the home of the Shaman or healer who was in charge of lighting the fire, making songs and playing the snail, we made an offering on each rock until we reached the image that was the penultimate one, this seemed to me to be a space where we can observe the syncretization where two different cultures, the Christian religion trying to conquer a thought Mesoamerican, on top of the rock, there is a Christian cross, making a symbol of submission to the inhabitants of that place. The offerings are on the occasion of the Lord of Lightning, Tlaloc, on the other hand the ecclesiastics worship the divine face, there is a construction of a church that coexists with a purely Mesoamerican sacred enclosure. At the end of this offering, we headed to the last one where we arrived at 7:00 am, we saw the sunrise while the Otomí group made preparations to move to the inipi and cleanse our spirit as gratitude and strength

In the municipality of Santiago Tianguistenco there is a very extensive flea market where they sell a variety of merchandise, but something that stands out a lot are the garments they knit with ribbon or wool, they have a variety of ties and hats. Likewise, clothing, food, fruit and vegetables predominate, as well as some other chit-chat.

My experience in Coatepec can be summed up as a social-religious experience. This trip gave me the opportunity to get to know and study the way in which the inhabitants of Coatepec interact. The people are very friendly and open to the public, eager to share their history and the long tradition of traditions that the city holds. I was truly amazed from the moment I met Juan, a very spiritual and friendly person who shared his experience interpreting Moses during Holy Week. Additionally, Coatepec is home to a very kind person named Maria, who has been keeping historical records of Coatepec for a long time. She reveals that she has about 40% of the complete information and is determined to finish and complete the full history of her hometown. From my personal experience, I highly recommend visiting San Nicolas Coatepec as it is a place nestled among mountains and surrounded by many beautiful natural landscapes worth exploring.

In my field work experience I was able to observe this mural called "from Xantolo to Mictlán"

It is considered by its creators to be the largest mural in Hidalgo. It measures 456 square meters and was created by ten artists of Mexican and foreign origin.

It is located on one of the exterior walls of the Benito Juárez primary school in the Downtown area, next to the municipal garden.

#Huejutla #Hidalgo #Xantolo #Mictlán #MuralHuejutla
