Valorizava o mérito, o trabalho, a educação e a família, enquanto acumulava poder económico e influência política. A alta burguesia vivia com luxo, imitava costumes da aristocracia e aproximou se dela por meio de casamentos e interesses financeiros. Assim, burguesia e aristocracia acabaram por unirem se e partilhando o poder na sociedade da época.
