      <description>Writing! It is such an essential part of the day to day, yet students are often feeling in the dark and unmotivated about picking up a pencil and putting their thoughts to paper. Each one of these books provides a basis for students to model their own writing after. They hit on a different topic, and provides something for every students. The ones who need to express their emotions in a positive way, and from the ones who want to write and describe the structure of our universe, this padlet provides an opportunity  for each child to be successful. </description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>This story takes readers on an emotional story of the day that the crayons quit, and the extent that students go to to get them back. Each letter has a corresponding picture to go along with it. This provides an example for students to model their own writing after and reminds them to present their writing in a manner that is paired with visual support, even with a narrative story. This could be adapted to an activity where students must write letters, and draw pictures to go with their letters! </p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Little Red Writing was a book that I used to teach students about generating their own ideas. It creates this feeling within students by having the characters based on their interests. These characters are pencils, and my students found their interests to be interesting. Examples of this include sports pencils and state pencils. This allows students to use their ideas by having them think about their interests and personalities to generate their ideas for stories. This could be adapted into an activity by having students think of themselves as pencils, and describe why they would be that way. </p>]]></description>

This book talks almost directly to students while walking you through the varying things that you can do with an idea that each student has. This creates a basis for an example of what students may do with their ideas and can be easily adapted into a lesson about an idea that they have, and how they can put it into practice. This can be adapted into a lesson where students must describe what they would do with their ideas or if they have any "different" ones, and what they would turn into! </p>]]></description>

This book could be easily adapted into an activity in which students must create internet sound words in their writing. An example of this in the story: </p><p>"The sun went sizzle, sizzle, sizzle."</p><p>This could be adapted into an activity where students must write to describe something and put in onomatopoeia to strengthen their writing. This can also be integrated by having a story with blanks where a student must fill in onomatopoeia. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Last Stop on Market Street tells the story of a boy who travels with his grandmother to a soup kitchen. The story follows him and his thoughts as he thinks aloud of his distaste and not wanting to go. It teaches students to write about their perspectives and their feelings. It enhances emotional appeal by the sentence:</p><p>"I'm glad we came."</p><p>"He wondered how his nana always found beautiful where he never thought to look." </p><p>This allows students to think about what is around them and their emotions! This could be adapted to a lesson by having students think about something that they enjoy, and something that they feel makes them happy. The goal of this lesson would be to tap into student's emotions so that they may integrate the voice skill in their writing. </p>]]></description>

It gives an example of point of view, and how a story can come from your own brain and your point of view. It provides an example of how a character is questioning her next move and uses question marks and commas to portray this series of thoughts. That being said, it is a helpful example of the way that punctuation and conventions can be utilized in student writing. </p><p>"The music stopped. Beatrice didn't know what to do. Cry? Run off stage?"</p><p>This can be adapted to an activity where students may be given a worksheet with blanks rather than punctation, so that they may learn when and how to implement it properly. </p>]]></description>

This is seen in the book's continuous implementation of words that help describe, teach students how to put these words into their writing, and dive deeper to create a better image in their reader's brains. Here are some examples of words that may provide this example:</p><p>"Nikki wanted <strong><em>snow white</em></strong> mittens."</p><p>"... a mole <strong><em>tunneling</em></strong> down."</p><p>"... he <strong><em>wiggled</em></strong> in."</p><p>"commotion".</p><p>This could be adapted in a way where students may edit their writing by adding descriptive words to it! They could write a story, add words, and then highlight their changes as a method of "going deeper" in their writing. </p>]]></description>

Because of this, it implements lots of earth and space-centered vocabulary. These vocabulary words are used in both the text and labeling. Because of this, it provides an example of using these words and concepts in student writing, as well as their drawings to accompany and strengthen their presentation.
