Second Example:”In comparing speech communities with Discourse Communities, Swales identifies how groups heavily engaged in literacy activities are separate in three ways.First, the medium,writing verus speaking, is different between the concepts and this has significant impact.”



Clifton Justice emphasizes Swale point on how Discourse Communities are different from Speech and Interpretive Communities because unlike those communities discourse communities comes together to get a great example of a Common Goal because the cast and crews for the show are all working together to make the show they are doing work and be overall great for audiences.Either it’s a musical or drama they have to work together to make this show happens.It isn’t a easy task of course there are a lot of colorful personalities that clashes with each other so it’s going to be hard.Example if someone who is introvert and extrovert have to perform a scene together they have to communicate and even though the introvert isn’t very talkative they still talk and communicate with the extrovert who they are doing a scene with to make it great and well done and in turn they both work to a common goal.At the end of the day they work together to make the show great and put together to entertain the audiences which again for sure has their family and friends watching.So even if the cast and crew are so different from each other with personalities and background they at least want to make this Facebook page and email to give the cast and crew info on when the rehearsals are happening,where the rehearsal is going to be,and who has to be there for the rehearsal because in Theatre not everyone needs to be at every rehearsal,it can be a rehearsal on one musical number with the people doing that musical number,or everyone is here for this rehearsal usally for the weekend and the morning,or a day where crew is jus there and they are doing lights,making the stage,doing sound cues,etc.For the cast and crew they usually do a group chat so that everyone knows what’s going on and are given updates on what’s going and to give everyone communications with each other when they aren’t at rehearsal.This is a great example of Intercommunication because the Theatre itself are giving updates on the rehearsals and give us info who needs to be there and what kind of rehearsal it is,and than with the group chat the cast and crew themselves could update each other and also could be a place for Directors who directs the play they give the actors notes and determine how a scene will go and they help new actors out.The Directors that directs the plays have been in other Theatre and even directed TV Show Episodes.We have a Voice Coach for Musicals who help the Cast perform their vocals and help them sing a song either if it’s a solo song,a ensemble song,etc.They like the Director help with actors who have never sing before or aren’t confident in their singing skills.For Stage Manager they manage the crew around,they coordinate everything that goes behind the scenes.They help with many different crews like Sound Crew by telling them when a Sound Cue happens or with Lightning Crew by telling them to turn on or off the lights or to have the light pointed at a certain spot or tell the actors where they’re places are and so on.They also have Assistant Stage Managers who are there for a certain crew if the Stage Manager isn’t everywhere all at once.They are usually people who either are adult who did many plays as a Stage Manager.These are great examples of Expertise because not only have they have a lot of experience but they also know how to manage the show,help new Coach,and Stage Manager gives us feedback and notes they written down during the rehearsal.For The Director they tell us if they messed up a line or if they are not convincing enough or the tone of the way they said the line.The director also gives us praise on what we did right to balance out the criticism.For the Vocal Coach when it’s for a musical they give us feedback on how to improve our singing, point out if we messed up on a certain lyric, if we messed up on a note,etc.Lie the Director they also give us praise on what we did right.For the stage manager they give feedback to both the Cast and Crew.They tell us feedback that is similar to the director like lines and whatnot but they also look at the rehearsal from a technical side so they point out the blocking we do(which is where we are on the stage) ask crew who are at the rehearsals but taking notes on what to do when we perform on stage and get a sense of what’s going to happen on stage.They are there to envision what’s going to happen on stage when the rehearsals that originally aren’t on stage are one stage.This is a great example of Participatory Mechanisms because they give us a sense of what we did right and what we did wrong so that when the next rehearsal happens we know what to do and how to improve.It’s a also a good thing we are told this because we need this feedback so that we aren’t thinking while doing the play what we are supposed to do and if let’s say a rehearsal go really bad they won’t yell at us but they will make it know to improve on something now and to fix it.On top of that we could the dancers and singers, background actors who could play different roles, and for musical chorus who does the group songs.For the new members who are apart of the cast if people in the cast have done a lot of shows they usually help with the new members and give them advice.For the crew we have the Stage Manager and the Assistant Stage Managers who operates the crew behind the scenes.Box Office is part of crew, there is a Costume Crew who do the costumes and organize the customs, there is Lights Crew who do the light cues, there are makeup crew who put on makeup on the actors,there is a Props crew who gives props to actors who needs it because the script requires it,there is a set crew who helps out with building the set,and there is a Sound Crew who do the sound cues.Just like the Cast if there is a new member to Crew people who did Crew for other shows they help out the new member and give them advice.This is a great example of Genre because there so many roles in cast and crew it’s crazy to think about how someone could manage these many people but because everyone has a common goal it works out.On top of that it’s easy for people are new to get situated, they have different Mic=Make sure your mic isn’t on while you are not on stage or to give it to someone that needs it




This is a great example of Lexis because a lot of these Terms are not known by people who isn’t in Theatre if I told someone what these terms mean to a Football Player or a Doctor they look at me weird.Because the only people who knows these terms are people who do plays either if it’s acting or crew  they have heard these terms at some point.
