1) Physical: social media – trained from birth to be consumers, big corps in our world like the story, will use social media platforms to market and sell their products – they will use popular “social media influencers” to help sell their products because these people are seen in society as highly ideal physically (based on appearance) – since in society consumers today look up to these ideals displayed online we will do whatever it takes to try to look that certain way - this relates to the book as crake creates these idealistic beings called ‘Craker’s’ based off of his aesthetic

2) Mental: how words have lost meaning: in the novel a huge thing was that crakers do not understand the meaning behind words, a word is a word to them but their brains are not programmed to give them any context or relate these words to anything tangible (basically the loss of the connection between tangible (real life things and meaning) and intangible (words and language) – this is the main reason why crakers are unable to create meaningful connections and relationships – this relates to our world today when it comes to the fact that language is losing its meaning, for example the word “like” is used more often as a filler world for people instead of actually using in correct context as a way to compare two things are “alike” or to explain something you enjoy

3) Taken away the intangible: the lack of emotion, feeling in connection in the story, as crake creates his Crakers with the absence of the ability to make REAL and genuine human connections relates to our world today and how social media has distanced humanity (opposite of what social media was meant to do) Crake created his Crakers without this ability to connect to solve others problems such as rape, prostitution, sexual abuse and sex slaves. But instead of doing good negatives came out of this as the Crakers were, as a result, completely dehumanized. Social media is the same where initially it was seen and thought to bring a community and the world closer but instead it has obviously distanced people and created many negatives related to real human connection today. It has just made people are less and less able to communicate in real life relationships with the excessive amount of time spent on social media

Photo 1: human relationships and genuine connections are being overruled by technology and the use of social networking. The creation off social media was through to bring humanity closer together and "unite" us, but instead it has resulted in an opposite effect. Face to face connections are rare now a days, FaceTime is closest thing we get most of the time to real interactions. relationships (friends/family/spouses) are effected negatively by social media and the over use of technology and devices. It has created a disconnect, as illustrated in the photo, the couple is physically close, but they are both using a phone, taking away from the possible connection.

Photo 2:
this photo directly relates to the inner workings of the 'Crakers'. They look like perfect humans on the outside but they are actually programmed by Crake to lack emotion and meaning. They don't understand meaning behind words, and the soul purpose of mating (sex) to reproduce. The absence of meaning behind anything (words, emotion, physical/metal connection) creates a robot like human. They resemble an ideal perfect human (based on Crakes aesthetic) that doesn't possess single imperfection not he outside. They have perfect porcelain skin, green eyes, and not a single inch of fat around their waists, but the inner workings of Crakers are far from what human is. being human is having imperfections and flaws, which in the story is something that Jimmy craves because of the lack of imperfection surrounding him.

The advanced science achieved in the world of the novel has challenged the distinction between humans and animals. Pigoons, for example, are pigs that grow human organs and even human brain tissue (for transplantation). Their partially human makeup makes it so that people are uncomfortable with the idea of eating them because it seems vaguely cannibalistic. Similarly, many people have recently refused to eat meat due to animal cloning and genetic modifications.

Some of the characters in the book are similar. For instance, the Crakers are genetically modified individual products that could be sold separately to parents who were willing to pay for more genetically perfect children. How China has created a modified genetic child that they meant to redact all possible diseases. However, eventually, humanity will be able to create a genetically modified child that is edited as the parents want.

How the Crakers are lack of socializing others can be compared crackers to our lives and the lives of animals. The crakers are genetically modified for lack of socializing. They have a limited sense of human relationships and genuine connections by reducing love to just hormones.

Recently, a growing number of people are afraid to communicate with others. Incidents caused by this lack of communication are also increasing rapidly. Small misunderstandings caused by communication failures can result in significant problems.

We can compare crackers to our lives and the lives of animals. Whether it's for puppies, puppies are neutralized less than a few weeks after birth.
