An example of this would be Montag's attempt of reading the Bible on the subway. However, the information continues to slip through his mind as he is unable to comprehend what he is reading. Because he hasn't been put into a society that has experienced religion, Montag faces difficulty in understanding the Bible's text. We also see this theme when Montag hands Faber the Bible. Recognizing the book, Faber is astonished and amazed at it has suddenly come back to his possession.
