  • A- This goal is possible as long as I keep a growth mindset, stay positive, stay active, and remain consistent.
  • R-  This is a realistic goal. I have been working toward building my experiences every quarter to make a stronger application to P.A. school.

    • Looked at all the requirements on the program website 
    • Asked my Italian history teacher for a letter of recommendation in person
    • Wrote and consistently revised many essays with the help of the writing center
    • Practiced for my interview
    • Got accepted and took a quarter of an Italian history LSP course
    b) Approach or Method:
    • Wrote in my agenda book to remind me of the dates for the deadline and the interview day (I look at my agenda daily)
    • Spend at least 2 hours a week on my application for 4 weeks
    • Asked my mom to help me prepare for the interview
    c) Patterns I Noticed:
    • I noticed that I tend to look over my writing over and over again until I think it sounds good
    • I usually do my essays at night
    • I usually submit applications earlier than the deadline
    d) Unexpected situation:
    • I got lost in at DePaul's Loop campus trying to find the room where I was supposed to have my interview.
      • I had to ask for directions to find the room

    b) One thing that resonated with me from this podcast is that the feeling of doubt that the graduate student had when filling our her applications. The feeling that you're putting in so much work and start asking yourself "what am I going to do if I don't get in?". This resonated with me because I often have this same thought and feeling.
    c) one meaningful connection to this course is when the graduate was answering the question "what are some common mistakes you've seen undergraduate students make in applying for grad school?". The graduate student replies that she made an excel sheet of all the grad school she wanted to apply to and all their requirements and she made sure that she submitted her work in good timing before the deadline. She noted that she noticed many other students submitting their applications last minute. I connected this with our in class discussions and assignments of our smart goals and taking notes on ourselves because the grad student was planning ahead and setting a schedule for herself just like we talked about in class and practiced through homework.
