People further from the equator experience less of this exposure which results in no color change in the skin.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There is a correlation with skin cancer and the amount of melanin in the skin. The correlation is due to the fact that the more melanin you have the more protected you are from the sun, but melanin is also pigment and relates to the color of your skin, so the darker you are the more protected. For instance, if you have lighter skin and you don't wear sunscreen you are more likely to get skin cancer than someone who has darker skin and doesn't wear sunscreen due to the fact that the melanin protects them more since they have more melanin. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Yes there is a correlation between vitamin D deficiency and amount of melanin in your skin because the more melanin you have the more protection you get from UV light and to have more melanin means you have to have darker pigment. So this means that darker people to be more in the sun to get a healthy amount of vitamin D than lighter people because the vitamin D is able to be absorbed better due to the lack of protection from UV light. So if you don't go out in the sun enough and you have darker skin you could have a vitamin D deficiency.</div>]]></description>
