  • Climate: Hotter, drier, more Mediterranean.

  • Soils: Galestro, clay, and sand → richer fruit, lower acidity.

  • Style: Brooding, powerful, and savoury. Dark plum, tobacco, balsamic herbs.

  • Key communes: Castelnuovo dell’Abate, Sant’Angelo in Colle, Ciacci Piccolomini, Uccelliera.
