This happens everywhere now a days like in the public eye (the beauty myth )with all the ads and stuff going on with women going missing and other stuff for example, in the memoir the mother was scared about the picture that got taken of her (chapter 1, panel 14-18). which later causes a lot of stress on these young girls and women who are put through this constantly like in the chapter "The Veil", the protagonist, Marji,  is told that she must wear this because of her religion But she never really understood why. But as the years continued she got more open about what she would wear (like her bands merchandise) and would get in trouble because of it (chapter 18, panel 46-59). throughout the story you would see all of these women being outed on how they choose to live and getting catcalled or threatened which would not happen to the men in her area.
