The picture above is a great example of facial symmetry. The lines drawn represent the symmetrical lines and angles in the face. Most of the time, people find attractiveness in facial symmetry and symmetry in general. Men particularly may find this photo attractive because research has shown they prefer full lips, small chin, small nose, short and narrow jaw, high cheekbones, clear and smooth skin, and wide-set eyes.

Body Symmetry

Surveys have shown that women prefer the inverted triangle shape in men the most. This is the same for men's preference in women.

This preference leads back to the history of men and women and as seen throughout the years. Typically, a taller, stronger, more symmetrical man with wider shoulders and a strong build, means they're more "masculine" and "protective".

Smile Symmetry

Mouth symmetry is something that is usually engrained in us since childhood. From as soon as our teeth grow in, we begin seeing the dentist. "Symmetry is considered elemental to a beautiful smile because it creates balance and harmony between various facial features. A symmetrical smile is not only visually appealing but also conveys positive traits like health, youthfulness, and vitality". From a personal level, I've come to find that I prefer tooth symmetry in a partner. A symmetrical smile to me is very attractive and I appreciate it in a partner.

Attractiveness in tattoos

Tattoos are very prevalent in today's society- I would bet most young adults in my generation have at least one tattoo (I do). Preference for this body "modification" varies among generations, and typically, the older generations have no preference for this at all, or put a stigma around you. Tattoos can be a strong expression of individuality and confidence, some tattoos have meaning, while others have no meaning at all and simply "look cool". Women especially find tattoos attractive on men due to the strength and independence they may signify. In society today, a big reason for getting tattoos is to express one's self through use of art on the body for individuality, belief, and values.

As someone with multiple tattoos, I got the tattoos because they mean something to me. All tattoos I have on my body, I believe are tasteful and signify something. My first tattoo was for my mother, a saying she's said to me since I was little and I knew even then, I wanted it on my body at some point. In my personal opinion, I find tattoos attractive, especially on a man, but I do believe think tattoos have to have meaning, I'm not one for pointless tattoos "just because", but that's just my opinion on it.
