The Abolitionist Movement: 1830-1870

This movement was to end slavery. The first country to agree with this movement and free their slaves was France, but it took some time to be used in its colonies.

Slavery: August 1816- July 1860

A major cause of the Civil War was slavery. As we all know slaves were treated unfairly and people wanted their freedom. Luckily they got the freedom that they deserved.

Sectionalism: 1800-1850

Sectionalism is the identification of a specific group. The reason that this is a cause is because the American identity grew in the beginning of the Civil War. This conflict made us go into war for the cultural division it caused.

States Rights: 1775- 1783

Northern states interfered with the institution of slavery, while Southern states were supporting slavery. This was a cause because they fought for all slaves freedom.

The Economy: 1846-1855

The economy in the Northern states was based off of the Northern workforce, many immigrants moved to join. The colony in the South was based off of the institution of slavery. Without their slaves they would be poor. It was not only the rich who depended on the slaves, it was the unemployed as well.
