         <description><![CDATA[<div>Summary:&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Jem destroys Mrs. Dubose's yard out of anger from a nasty comment made by Mrs. Dubose. Atticus forces Jem to make it up to Mrs. Dubose, by helping fix the yard and reading to her everyday for 2 hours for a month. Mrs. Dubose passes away, and Jem receives a box with a white camellia. Atticus tells Jem he made him help Mrs. Dubose so he could see an example of courage and bravery.<br><br>About Atticus:&nbsp;<br>Atticus is calm in tough situations. "Good evening, you look like a picture today." (133)<br><br>Atticus is loving and humble. "I do my best to love everybody." (108)<br><br>Atticus puts others before himself. However, Scout later learns from Miss Maudie that Atticus is the best checker-player in town. When Jem and Scout find a mad dog, Atticus is forced to shoot the dog, which is when they find out that Atticus is a good shot.<br><br>About Atticus:<br>-He is nearly 50 years old.&nbsp;<br>"Atticus was feeble: he was nearly fifty." During Christmas Jem and Scout get air rifles, and Scout later gets into a fight with her cousin in which she punches him in the mouth because he was insulting Atticus about defending Tom Robinson.<br><br>About Atticus:<br>- Atticus is against Racism "He tells scout not to say the&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;N Word." (99<br><br>- Follows Morals "I'm simply defending a negro, his name is Tom Robinson." (100)<br><br>- Pacifist " Hold your head high and keep your fists down." Atticus tells them to run down to the Radley's place. Boo Radley put a blanket on Scout when she wasn't looking.<br><br>Atticus :<br>- He is sometimes proud of his children. "Jim, dandy job..." (89)<br><br>-He fights for what he believes in. "Atticus strolled over to Mrs. Maudies sidewalk where they engaged in an arm waving conversation.." (91)<br><br>- Sensible - only grabbed Maudie's favorite chair from fire <br><br>-He is caring. Atticus went to the Radley's house after the death of old Mrs. Radley.          <description><![CDATA[<div><br>Summary: After school has started again, Jem reveals to Scout that he had found his pants folded and sewn up when he went to get them back. Jem and Scout begin finding things in the hole in the tree, including 2 soap figures carved to look like Jem and Scout. They later discover that Mr. Nathan Radley filled the hole with cement because he claimed the tree was dying.<br><br>Atticus:<br>- "... had we asked around?"          <description><![CDATA[<div>Jem and Dill obey Atticus's order to leave Boo Radley, until the last day of Dill being in Maycomb. They sneak around the yard of the Radley's house peering through various window, when they see a shadow of a man in the house and hear a shotgun blast behind them. They run back home, and find several adults in the yard gossiping about Mr. Radley shooting at a person in his collard patch. Jem later goes back to get his pants he lost during the escape.&nbsp;<br><br>About Atticus:&nbsp;<br>Atticus doesn't like gambling - precise, have control of everything around him<br>Doesn't take unnecessary risk<br>Has a moral code<br>"I don't want to hear about Poker in any form" (73)<br><br>Jim doesn't want to disappoint Atticus<br>&nbsp;"I want to keep it that way" (75)<br><br>Atticus doesn't beat his children.<br>"Atticus ain't never whipped me since I can remember." Meanwhile, Dill and Jem make a note inviting Boo to come outside have ice cream. Scout makes fun of Walter at the table, but gets in trouble. We learn about the Ewells when Burris gets the cooties at school and storms out forever.
