Introduction

The promising Elizabeth Zott is the principal character. A bright woman who is passionate about chemistry in the same way as she is about nutrition. Although her childhood has been a challenge due to the fact that she decides to grow alone and to cut off from her family; when she becomes an adult, she has an encounter with another chemist, Calvin Evans, someone who really trusts her. Together, they develop their enthusiasm for the chemical research as well as Calvin introduces Elizabeth into the rower’s world. Eventually and as expected, they start a nonconventional family. During the story, some other characters appear and they have relevance throughout her motherhood and during the stage when she becomes the host of the TV show “Supper at Six”. What is more, they support her during the bad times. One of those characters is her neighbour Harriet. She is in charge of taking care of Elizabeth's daughter, Madeleine; but also, at some point, they support each other. Along the way, Elizabeth will find out some lies about Calvin’s past which turn into truths. Furthermore, thanks to her daughter and a published article she will realise who really are part of their family tree.
