I think TCM as a conduit of knowledge has evolved. Demon hunting and magic is still very much present in Theravada Buddhism as it is perceived that this external influences can harm us. Hence we need to guard our senses against them.
Yes! It opened my perspectives to what is considered as medical. Simply keeping to the Dao and focusing on the self can be a way of dealing with the ailments in the natural and supernatural.
