Esme's dedication and commitment to the Providencia community has been unwavering for years. Our beloved Instructional Assistant and After School Daze (ASD) leader had a heart of gold and an incredibly positive outlook on life. Esme's favorite phrase was, "Don't forget to smile". I know she would want us to remember this as we grieve. Sending love and strength to Miguel, Gemma, Eva, and Josiah. "Mama Esme" will forever be in our hearts.

Nobody understood this better than you, Esme. You were (and are) the epitome of kindness. You cared deeply about every child and adult whose lives you touched. You never failed to put a smile on our faces. Many an afternoon, you would help me get messages to parents, track down a child who needed to complete an assignment, or just share a kind word. You made a huge positive impact on my own children who spend many afternoons in your care (when I stayed late for meetings or work). You always set beautiful example to parents by being an amazing parent to your three wonderful children. You are and always will be deeply respected and loved. Thank you for brightening our lives.

Your kindness and love surrounded everything your did. Taking time to stop and chat, sending a smile across the classroom, creatively encouraging students who were reluctant to give things a try or who had hit a wall- you always had a positive way to help them find their courage. Know you touched more lives than you can imagine in such a long-lasting way.

I didn't know you well, but your beautiful face and smile, caring heart, and kindness were always present at school. We bonded over the New Kids, realizing we were both crazy enough to have bought tickets to the same reunion concert. I will miss talking to you in the office. Miss your smile despite whatever was happening or whatever stress we were sharing. I can't believe you're gone. But I also know you aren't really gone. We may not be able to see you, but you will always be here, surrounding your family with your love. I remember looking around the Hollywood Bowl that night thinking, "Esme is here somewhere!", and it brought a smile to my face and a glow in my heart. Now I have to look around everywhere and remember, "Esme is here somewhere." I'll do my best to smile.

My Childhood Friend

I spent summers with my grandmother and Esme was her neighbor. We became friends at around 7 years old and I was always at awe at her big personality, even then. We would play pretend and her parents were always so kind. She had tons of toys and I’d look forward to playing with her in the afternoons.
We lost touch until after I had graduated high school and we had friends in common. I right away recognized my friend with the huge smile and we reconnected. On and off through the years we would connect through messages on social media, until now.
I’ve had moments in which I go back to when we were so little, never imagining what would be of our lives down the road.

Rest well my friend, rejoice in the lords company for you made a beautiful impact while on earth.

You are one of my greatest friends and mentors. You taught me to love fiercely, always have forgiveness in my heart, and to not take life to seriously. If I can be half the woman you were I would consider myself blessed.

I know she would want me to share a funny story so, Esme Loved to dance. We would CRACK UP that if we both dropped it on the dance floor we wouldn’t be able to get up. Someone would probably have to roll us out of there.

I remember the day you took the pregnancy test to see if you were pregnant with Josiah and i was in the kitchen with dad and i saw the test really right away. Then i grabbed it but where you pee and that's when we found out you were going to have another baby 💞 ( i was the first to officially know, because i took the test out and read it ) -gem and I'm also painting a precious moments angel for you 😉 love you

What a privilege it was to call you not only my coworker, but my friend. Such an amazingly positive influence you were to all around you. I had the amazing privilege to meet Esme as she watched over my girls in daycare in different settings. Every single time I saw Esme, she was always smiling, cheerful, helpful and such a beautiful soul. She will be greatly missed and I am sending my sincere prayers and thoughts out to her family and friends. I am saddened to hear of her passing. Dear Esme,
You left us way too soon. I will miss your warmth, caring nature, smile, and genuine love for kids and all people. I always enjoyed working with you. You made our job and life in general very fun. Whenever myself and the other park leaders would get together to pick our summer staff, you were always one of my top picks, it was like a football draft, and I always picked my favorite gal because I knew with you working Sumerdaze plus, we were always in very good hands.The kids and staff loved you, and you loved us all back. I will never forget all the awesome and fun times we had. The SD+ field trips, the everyday events at the park, our awesome overnights, special events, skate events, etc. I knew I could always count on you. You were more then just a great employee, you were an even better friend. You will never be forgotten. We will all continue to live our lives the way you would want us to, with love, and a big smile on our faces. Stay gold my friend!

Ms. Esme was (and is) my favirote counsler, its hard to expain how she did it but, i know a few. She always knew when people are sad or need help, and she knew how to fix it. Ms. Esme also understood, and listened. She also knew how to fix every problem. Ms. Esme also never forgot ANYTHING about us. If I had not seen her in a year, she would still remember me. Yhe last thing about Ms. Esme is how she always said "Don't forget to smile" so now me and everyone at providencia elemetary should remember that.

Christina would always come home talking about the fun activities you did at ASD. She looked forward to being there afterschool, even though it was a very long day for her. She missed you when she went to Middle school and was very sad to hear of your passing.

I remember your kindness and understanding with the single mother. I remember how much you laughed and loved everyone.

Esme had a way of making everyone feel accepted. I will never forget how down I felt at one point and sure I would not make it in childcare. We did not know each other for long, but in the short time we worked together in-person at Providencia, your kind and loving energy was so apparent. You were warm and your smile were so comforting. My students all loved running to you for hugs on the school yard. I would always hear them yell "Ms. Esme!!!" and see you wave and smile back. I learned quickly that you were beloved by so many students in Burbank. I wish we had more time to get to know one another, but I know you will stay with so many of the students whom you impacted, in their hearts forever. I am praying and sending love to your family.

Mrs. Esme, you helped shape the leader and overall person that I am today. For that, I am ever grateful. Without you entering my life I would not be where I am in Ases or in life. You gave me so many pep talks before work and always told me to keep going no matter how hard things were getting. You reminded me always to “keep smiling” and what can I say, it was pretty infectious. One thing I will never forget is when we would all be under the lunch shelter and you would have ASD repeat the peace builder pledge. I just remember the kindness and the warmth that it brought to not only your program but to the kids at Ases as well, and of course all of the leads. I loved joking around with you and laughing about silly things the kids would do or say, or laugh at random things that would go on throughout the day. I remember you since I was in Elementary, then my brother Tito went by Providencia and now Isabella . You were always so full of life and so welcoming. You were never afraid to say hello with your warming smile. You always recognized me and made sure I said hello to my mom and siblings for you . We are all going to miss you at Providencia .
