Go green and explore the Planet of Life!!!

Earth is a planet in the Solar System in the Milky Way Galaxy. It is the third planet from the Sun out of eight. Its layers are the crust, mantle, outer core, and inner core.

From space, you'll see that much of Earth's surface is covered by water (71 percent to be more exact). You might call it the Blue Planet. Once you land, you may see a number of things. If you land in an area full of plant life, green colors will surround you. Landing in a cold area may show you an endless view of pure white. A desert will fill your senses with the simplicity of sand. You may see plants and animals.

Earth has a diameter of 12,756.3 km and its own special Moon. It is the only planet in the Solar System to continuously support life right now. There is an atmosphere, a supply of water, and sunlight.

Earth tilts on its axis. As it orbits around the Sun, different parts are exposed to the Sun at different times. This causes the seasons, which are changes in temperature and amount of daylight. Summer is hottest with the most daylight. Winter is coldest with the least daylight. Spring and Fall are transitions between the extremes and are more moderate.

The rotation of Earth on its axis is what causes day and night. When your area is facing away from the Sun, it is night and vice versa. Each full rotation takes about 24 hours. This is known as one day.

Earth revolves around the Sun in an orbit. Each revolution lasts a year. Each year includes all four seasons (summer, fall, winter, spring) and takes about 365.25 days. Every four years, there is a leap year, where the extra .25 adds up to a full day.

The Sun goes through nuclear fusion. This creates a lot of energy. Some of that energy travels to the Earth. This is how we get our sunlight. Without it, life wouldn't be possible on Earth.

Earth and other objects in the Solar System are spherical because of their gravity. It pulls everything in towards its center.

Light years are the amount of distance that light travels in a year. It is close to six trillion miles. Crazy, isn't it??

Scientists believe that a supernova was responsible for the formation of the Solar System.

Fun Things to do on Earth

Explore natural areas (like a forest or jungle)

Go swimming in the ocean

Climb a mountain

Go camping in the wilderness

Meet people from all around the world and experience their cultures

Study the behaviors of animals

Play around with our technology

Cars

Planes

Boats

Trains

Electronics

and much, much more

Learn about worldwide human things

Read books

Listen to music

Learn to use everyday objects if you've never seen them before

Go shopping

Eat food!

What to Bring

Clothes (depending on where you are going)

Shirts (long and short sleeved)

Pants (short and long)

Jackets (of different thicknesses)

Shoes

Socks

Undergarments

Sunglasses

Gloves

Scarves

Toiletries

Tech from where you came from

As you can see, there are many, many things you can do on Earth. So, come visit us!!!!!!
