Theme of "Monsters are due on Maple street "

By: Sharaiah Gomez

One theme of " Monsters are due on Maple street" is don't let fear control you. In the text it states " you scared frightened rabbits you. You're sick people, do you know that? You're sick people - all of you! And you don't even know what you're starting because let me tell you ... Let me tell you - this thing your starting - that should frighten you. As God my witness. You're letting something begins here that's a nightmare." This quote explains that they are all scared and because they are scared they are blaming each other over the littlest things. According to the script it states

" figure one: understand the procedure now? Just stop a few of their machines and raiders and telephones and law mowers... Throw them into darkness for a few hours, and then just sit back and watch the pattern.

Figure two: is the pattern always the same?

Figure one: with a few variations. They pick out the most dangerous enemy they can find... And it's themselves. And all we need to do is sit back... And watch."

This theme is relevant today because people act on fear before they think. For example according to the article from news app "video released shows officers shooting a 6-year old" marshals started shooting at a SUV because supposedly the driver rammed into the marshals car but them and put his hand up when asked but officers shot at the SUV and killed the 6-year old son of the driver and injured the driver/father. This shows that they were sacred and nervous even though they are trained not to be everyone still is in some way, and because of that they shot at the car to quickly without thinking because that is what there are trained to do. According to the article "muslim women are set on fire and being assaulted for being muslim" muslim women are targets to hate crimes and are being burned, punched, and executed. This shows that they are killing and assaulting muslims because they are scared of there people and religion.

Theme by Juan

One theme of the story Monsters Are Due In Maple St is don't let fear control you. According to the story " Charlie slowly raises the gun." A figure appears Charlie is scared he raises the gun. The author stated that " Charle suddenly pulls the trigger, it's Pete Van Horn." Charle kills a insistent man because of his fear.
This theme is relevant today because people act in fear. According to CNN" shots were being fired and the moment deputized realized they had killed a child. The police were chasing a car and they started shooting and killed a innocent child. According to Jonathan " police thought that the driver was doing something so they opened fire. They injured the driver and killed the kid.

The theme of monsters on maple street is fear changes society, because according to the text a figure shows up to the mob and Charlie out of fear shot the figure and it turns out that the figure was Pete van horn and he was checking if the lights where out on the other streets, so according to this information fear changes society because if your frightened you act differently. In the text Charlie wouldn't have shot Pete van horn if he knew who the figure was, because of this Charlie was full of fear when Tommy said that it was a monster.

This theme is relevant today because, the people of Maple street because anxiety changes your behavior to prepare your body to run or fight because this increases your heart rate.Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by a belief that someone or something I'd dangerous, likely to cause pain or a threat, it is to be afraid of being threatened. According to the article fear can manipulate and influence someone's choices. This means that if people are frightened then their choices will be different.

One theme of this story is fear can truly change people. As stated in act one of monsters "The people pick this up and their murmuring becomes a loud chant filling the air with accusations and demands far action. Two of the men pass Don and head toward Goodman, who backs away from the car now at bay." This is significant because it shows the neighbors are untrustworthy towards Mr.Goodman and are becoming violent. As stated in act one "We're all on a monster kick, Les. Seems that the general impression holds that maybe one family isn't what we think it is." This shows that Steve, is scared of Les because he, lick everyone else doesn't know if Les and his family are even human.
This theme is relevant today because people are afraid of larger groups of people and of weapons. An example of this is the South Carolina school shooting that took place on 9/28/16. This supports my purpose because it shows that people are becoming violent because of their fears. In another article it states that a school in Texas has teachers with fire arms. This shows that teachers in this school are becoming afraid of school shootings to respond to this, they are now having staff members have fire arms to protect students.

The theme of the story, "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street", is to think about something before jumping into conclusions. According to the text, it states "A figure has suddenly materialized in the gloom... It's the monster! It's the monster!" Examples such as this one indicate that if you don't stop and think about something, you'll get the wrong idea or answer. According to the text, it states "So I've got a car that starts itself-well, that's a freak thing... Now I suppose that's supposed to incriminate me!" Examples such as this indicate that you need to know more information about something before blaming it on someone or something.
The theme is relevant today because people still are making accusations on others. According to the news it has that Russia accuses U.S of supporting terrorism in Syria crisis. The information proves that people or countries accuse each other, not knowing if it's true or not. According to the news article, it stated "We cannot interpret this as anything else apart rom the current U.S administrations..." This information proves that people understand not to say anything that's not true, but still say something.

One of the themes of the story is " fear changes society ". According to the script, Charlie killed Pete Van Horn, because of fear, Charlie was scared that might have been a monster.

There had been a murder in Maple Street, and all because Charlie feared that the person coming might had been a creature and so he went ahead and shot him, this explains how all neighbors at last started blaming Charlie as a murderer and this affected the neighborhood leading all them wanting to destroy each other. In the script, both Charlie and Steve were blaming Goodman that there was a monster because of information read that was about Goodman recently. These facts from the article support the theme because in the very end of the script the whole neighborhood ends up wanting to destroy themselves.

This theme is relevant today because of much death scenes happening in our country.

According to my research, " No texting while driving ", was made because our country is afraid people kill there selves because they have their eyes on their phone and not the wheel. Let's throwback to 9/11 when airports weren't literally full of security's and safety issues, but after 9/11 the government feared another tragic event could happen in their country if they don't include all this in airports. Last and final fact about how fear changes society is, the government starts wars because they fear on how if they don't declare war another country might take over them.

What I'm trying to explains is, government does movements in their nation like making laws, or starting wars because they don't want anything bad happening in their country.

Charlie and you were so quick to tell us who we had to be careful of". I choose this because it saying that you should no believe other people you should believe in your self. According to the text "well, maybe you had to kill. Maybe Peter there was trying to tells us something". I choose this because if you can never trust nobody you should trust ur self.
This theme is relevant today because it can cause murder."police say man pulled an object from his packet, pointed at offices and assumed a shooting stance".this shows that a police officer just shot him to shot him."one officer tried and failed to sub due the man, who was reported acting weird". This shows that he did not do nothing bad to cause the death.

The theme of the text is "Don't jump to conclusions." In the text it states, "It must have been him. He's the one. We got to get Charlie." The whole neighborhood kept on blaming people without full evidence. In the text it states,"What about Steve's radio-He's the one that called them-Smash the radio. Get me a hammer. Get me something." So first they blame Charlie for acting suspicious. Then he blamed Tommy as if he knew. So then they all blame Steve because of his radio. From there they all accused each other. This theme is relevant today because they automatically make a conclusion without any or full evidence. My website states,"Christie warns not to Jump to Conclusions about New York City attack, but defends Trump for doing so. They went straight to a conclusion and Trump is saying stuff about New York without evidence to provide it. It is like when they go to a court house and right away the judge says guilty. It would never give you the answer by guessing an end tomorrow.

The theme of the story is that fear changes society. In the story Monsters Are Due on Maple street, the statement that supports the theme is " you killed him Charlie, you shot him dead " . This evidence is significant because it shows that Charlie's fear made him think that Pete Van Horn was a Monster . According to the text, Charlie and Steve were all blaming Goodman on being the monster because of recent information about Goodman. Examples such as this one supports that fear changes society because the fears that Steve and Charlie had made them believe that their friend Goodman was the monster and accused him of it. This theme is relevant because today fear changes society. For example , the article " school counselor talked student out of shooting " shows how fear changes society. This is significant because it shows if the student had shoot the teachers it would effect the family. According to the text , " A Tennessee school counselor is being hailed a hero after she talked a 14- year old boy who came to school with a loaded gun out of his alleged plan to shoot teachers and a police officer. Examples such as this one indicates that fear changes society because the counselor being in fear for others life and hers and came and helped out.

Fear can change society because sometimes people get scared and needs someone to be next to them because they feel protected, and then when the conflicts starts they get mad and then more people come and also get mad at each other. In the article, "Monsters are Due on Maple Street", the same thing happens, in page 673, in all of Mr. Goodman's part. It says that the engine starting by itself but the neighborhood thinks he has something to do with the electricity off, the phone won't work, they can't get a thing in the radio, the power mower won't budge, as stated in page 669. They are saying that Mr. Goodmen has something to do with the conflict, but when everything ends he might be innocent or the one behind the conflict.

This theme is relevant because there is a guy calling a school that barely reopened threatened all teachers and students. A 28 year old man was threatening Sandy Hook Elementary. He was causing fear in student and teachers. There was also another story that a policeman opened fire to a man in the car and they accidentally shot the kid to death. They just injured the driver but killed the kid. That is my conclusion.

The theme of the story is don't accuse each other because bad things can happen to you. According to the text, it says,"Well, if that's the case, Les Goodman, explain why-" This means, everybody was accusing each other, so they made Goodman explain. According to the text, it says,"Get Steve-Get Charlie- they're working together" This shows, they were accusing Charlie and Steve cause they thought they were working together.

This is important today because people still shouldn't accuse each other. According to the text,"Some of us get stress relief by accusing others but I think that is not right all the time." This means, people get stress out of the way by blaming other people, yet that is not how it's supposed to work. According to the text,"Before you go accuses someone, there should always be enough proof to prove your accusations." This means, you must have enough evidence to prove what your accusing someone of.

SBradley Weiss
9/28/16
Period:2

One of the main themes in The Monsters are due on Maple Street is fear can change a society. It states in the text that they accused because,"The car idles roughly, smoke coming from the exhaust..."everyone accuses Goodman because his car started, after this a mob starts screaming at Goodman. In the text after Charlie shot Pete van Horn the mob starts to go after Charlie screaming the words,"It must be him...He's the one...We got to get Charlie." The evidence that supports this quote is on page 17 which shows that the mob is attacking everyone and fighting begins.

This theme is relevant to today because fear is spreading across the globe causing many deaths and casualties. According to CNN news fear is rising due to the constant vigilante killings, this proves how fear can spread to everyone. This is significant because it causes rage and people are now trying to sue several people that are accused of this. According to the news story on CNN it states that the fear from police brutalities causes many people to start fighting and protesting against cops. This page is significant because on the site It shows people choosing sides against the cops.

Monsters are due on maple street theme
Jesus Romero

One theme for monsters was that you should never let your feelings take over your life. This is the theme because fear changed society and every one was starting to get suspicious. On page 680, it said that Charlie was scared and since he didn't know who was walking, he shot and killed Pete. Another reason why this would be the theme is because no one wanted to believe Charlie, that tommy was causing all they trouble. On page 681, Charlie scared and told the crowd it was tommy, but they didn't believe him because he was just a little boy.
This is the theme because it also relates to the real life. According to "Reuters", I found that a shooting video was released and had a black man that died because a police officer shot him, so they will march for that and say that black lives matter. This shows that the people got scared but wanted to do something about it so they said that " black lives matter ". According to an article I read, a security video in a Georgia home captures a woman firing a gun at armed intruders. I chose this because the lady was in her pj's and was scared so what she did was shoot to defend her property

Type to enter text The theme of '' The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street'' is fear changes society. According to the text '' Charlie well, why don't you go downtown and check with the police, though they'll probably think we're crazy or something . Just a little power failure and right away we get all flustered and everything.'' This evidence is significant to the theme because it shows how fear Changes society . This also significant because they used the word flustered . According to the text " Wait a minute...wait a minute ! Let's not be a mob ! I just don't understand it . I tried to start it and it wouldn't start. You saw me you all saw me ". This is significant to fear changes society because they are so scared there blaming other people and turning into a mob. This theme is relevant to real life because fear changes society and become to worried and we make bad choices. According to my research "police in Elkart found the bodies of 7 year old Lilianna Hernandez and 6 year old Rene Pasztor on September 26 an hour after authorities issued an amber alert following there abduction from the home of their custodian grandparents." This is relevant to fear changes society because the person who did this was scared of something and made a bad choice without thinking twice. According to my research, "around 9:30 am a pipe bomb exploded in a trash can...and at around 8:30 pm another bomb went off and injured 29 people." This is relevant to fear changes society because their scared for their country so their trying to make us scared for our country too.
