Reading is a crucial part of learning, however it does not need to be something that students are not excited about. They must read the fine print, the footnotes about how the science was done. Furthermore, they must understand the biases of the study, such as the background of the scientists who completed the study and the diversity of the sample. Many of us focused on the idea of how we are okay with and our students have become okay with "oversimplified" readings. We agreed it is important to challenge students with various readings on topics and to encourage them to read in their own time. 

Personally, after reviewing the quote I felt a bit of conviction in my own time that I provide myself to read. To be a better teacher of literacy and the love of literacy.
