reflection of my year

Running through the halls to find my friends after a long summer of training and absolutely no hang outs, was probably he bet feeling in the beginning. That's how I started my sophomore year, on top of all y classes and thriving in every activity I participated in. More towards the middle of the year I unfortunately suffered through a pretty bad heartbreak of my first ever boyfriend. As much as I denied that it affected me, it started to show. My grades slowly declined, I lost interest and passion for hobbies, I started to isolate myself, and just plenty other signs of disinterest. Now that school is almost over knowing hat these are my last few days in the walls and people I grew up with, I start to think to myself how am I going to start at new school. Specifically a school that I know absolutely nobody, it makes me kind of sad. Even though, I'm exchanging comfort for success, it still makes me wonder if the decision I made was the right one.

Biology

To many Biology, is just a regular lass one takes in order to pass and graduate, however not all students learn the same. I'm one of those who unfortunately struggle, I don't pick up material easily and comprehension isn't really easy for me. y teacher, Mr. Suarez, from the very start drilled into our brains that thus test depended on if we graduated or not. Which wasn't a lie, but made it seem as if any other class wasn't important. After many Edpuzzles, classes, and Gimkits the day rolled around. The day we all waited to come, the day we counted down to sine the first day of school. Walking in that cold testing room with the hope of just a low three, was quick to vanish after loading up the first question. Rereading it over and over again was no help, after 10 minutes passed I knew I had to guess and move on. I submitted my last question and prayed. Few minutes went by before I started to hear people getting there results, and that when the panic started. I rush to my teacher after a few minutes hat felt like eternity. I find him in a crowed of my celebrating classmates, walking up to him had to be the top 10 scariest moments this school year. I ask him for my score, and the knot in y stomach was soon untangled after hearing the words "you passed". I jumped, laughed, cried, a literal roller coaster of emotions. This is all one challenge to remember my whole life.

The book of the dead

This story we read in the beginning of the year in my English honors class. The Book of the Dead was a story of an artist who was delivering a sculpture to a client this sculpture was made in inspiration of the artists dad who was a supposed prisoner under the government of Haiti. As the story line goes on, right before going to the clients house the sculpture suddenly goes missing, and so dies the artist dad. She later finds him at a lake alone. When his daughter asks about the sculpture he confesses to his daughter that he didn't deserve to be he inspiration to this sculpture. He confessed that he made up what actually happened in those Hattian prisons, he was actually a guard, the one abusing the prisoners. This story impacted because it taught me how the truth will always come to the surface no mater how much you try to avoid it.

Safeguard pro

This project was assigned in the semester of my speech class, the purposed of it was to make a commercial using ethos, logos, and pathos. Me and my friends thought and thought but nothing came to mind for this project, until Isa's mom complained about her son now having a car now and never being home. In that moment we all clicked, A SEATBELT. We couldn't really find something that looked like a seatbelt, so we grabbed three durags we took from her brother and got to work. After plenty of trial and error, we finalized a script and got to recording. The video was a little over two minutes long including bloopers for the pathos part of the project. The Safeguard pro was a safety enhancement for your seatbelt keeping you safer at low costs. This was honestly my best and favorite project I've ever made in my life, it taught me the purpose of commercials and also the propaganda behind it. Not ignoring the fact that it built stronger bonds between me and my friends after we finished this assignment.

I'll be Fine

Megan Moroney has been one of my favorite artist throughout this school year. She has a variety of relatable songs that fit every situation. The song "I'll be Fine" released in 2024 made a huge impact on this year because of its lyrics. The constant repetition of her saying "I'll be fine" after plenty situations that are hard to get over, made me realize that the world doesn't end after one mistake. This album in specific in which this song is displayed, Am I Okay?, talks about hardship a woman goes through after heartbreak. I'm not necessarily applying this song to heart break, but simply hardships or struggles one can go through even though they feel like the world is falling apart.

Next year I know will be completely different since I won't be in the halls I grew up in. Some goals I set for m myself for the incoming school year is that I'll stay consistent with all my classes and activities throughout the school year. I also want to be more involved in school clubs, like aside of sports. I also want to see improvement athletically, I want to be able to play with more confidence. Aside from academic goals, I want to build stronger bonds with my family. I feel like since I'm always out on the court or in school I don't prioritize them as much as I would want to.
