EWS (Early-Warning System)

During this one (1) hour you can:

Meet one-to-one with your homeroom students about current grades,
Have your students complete a grade check. Have them write out their classes and current grades,
Work on missing assignments for class,
Work on Achieve3000,
Work on IXL (Math),
Have class discussions about different Growth Mindset topics.

Have students have a folder or notebook that they can use for this. Have them write in their answers for CS prompts or questions it may give them. After session, have them do a 3-2-1 reflection on what they learned.

PBL (Project Based Learning)

PBL

1st Semester (August-January) Cultural Day

2nd Semester (January-May) YAP

Students will use this period to brainstorm, plan, create, and prepare for PBL cumulating event.
PBL Requirement slides will be made by all teachers.
This year's focus is on the "Nesian Islands"- Micronesia, Melanesia, and Polynesia. Have your students begin on researching what 3 top islands they might be interested in.

Class Meetings

Class meetings are about 30 minutes long.

Since it is a new year, you and your fellow grade-level advisors should discuss either nominating new officers or using the same ones.

Always have a meeting agenda for students to know what they will discuss. This also helps with teaching how a meeting is run.
Announce different things that will happen during the week within the school such as the club fair.
Have them plan for the next meeting.
Usually, class meetings take place in one class with all 8th graders.

I'm STILL confused about the proper adding of completed assignments by the students. Afraid to add to IC until I better understand the system. I have a IEP this afternoon, but would like to go over it again using my laptop.

I've scored some assignments, but the students cannot see their grades. I'm guessing there is another step that must be performed. Help Please.
