While I do not actively participate in the faith currently, I know that many of my attitudes, morals, and beliefs come from that religion. I still have many family members and friends who are part of the church so it is still very ingrained in my life. I've had to work hard to thoughtfully work through the teachings and beliefs that I think are applicable to my life and those that I don't agree with. We lived with my grandparents for the first 8 years of my life and then even when we lived alone, we have kept up with big family dinners every Sunday and every holiday.

I - and most in my family - still consider ourselves Californians in the things that we like and the way that we look in the world. I know that I have a very nostalgic view of my childhood and where I grew up but it has shaped my political and world view and will continue to. I don't like sports, but I still watch every Dodgers game. I'm not a fan of swimming but Southern Californian beaches are my dream vacation. This was my mother's favorite book and movie as a teenager and she always wanted to have a daughter as strong willed and independent as that character. Being named after a character in a book led me to a love of reading and the knowledge that books can change people's lives. My mother read the Harry Potter series and many others to my siblings and I and we listened to audiobooks as a family in the car whenever we went on trips.

Growing up near Disneyland, we went very often. My parents were always big fans of the company as well so we went to every movie premier and as a child saw every new film at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood.
