James: Hey, have you seen those fruit bats over there?

Lily: Yeah, they're fascinating, aren't they? Such a friendly species.

James: Definitely. Did you know that their population was decreasing?

Lily: Yeah, because of climate change and storms, right?

James: You’re right! But they are stable now, in here.

Lily: Of course, the staff here at Durrell are doing everything they can to provide a safe environment for them.

James: I have to know though, do they use echolocalisation like every bat?

Lily:  They don’t but they’ve adapted pretty well considering it.

James: That's true. Well, let's hope they are happy here. It would be a shame to lose such cute animals.

Lily: Agreed. Let's keep an eye on them and see how they're doing.

James: Let me take a picture of it… It turned out a bit blurry. They really like flying around.

Broot: look at that Taylor, there are still a lot of humans today.

Taylor: Don't talk to me about it, I've seen them taking photos of us since this morning, they're tiring me out.

Broot: uh look at this individual who is practically our size, why is he sticking his tongue out?

Taylor: he really looks stupid.

Broot: There is no doubt about it, I think we are among the most intelligent animals.

Taylor: I think so too. Look for example at the monkeys there, they fight for food.

Broot: completely stupid.

Taylor: I will never share my food with you but I'm not going to fight about it.

With my big eyes, I contemplate nature

I watch the world, straight as a ramrod, moving only my head

I am very small because I measure about 30 cm.

I can live to be 14.

I don’t like to be alone I always have a group with me

It may be other meerkats but it has already happened for one of my species to be with a warthog and a lion.

I live in a dry place and my natural habitat is in the desert.

To protect myself or to sleep, I dig a hole and I go inside.

I think my popularity comes from my cuteness.

What a dream to be free like me

Enjoying the southern breeze because

Everyday discovering something bouncy

Fresh eucalyptus, fresh air…

Sleeping and dreaming are my only hobbies

And when I see humans walking, I think life’s unfair.

But there are also many advantages

Everyone thinks I’m the cutest

Even if I don’t do anything.

In reality I’m the smartest

Because from the very beggining

I do everything without even getting tired

All I do is getting complimented

Because my fur is as dull as my heart

Being born in the right world is all I did.

Father: Yes, Timmy I have lived there for 3 years with the others

Timmy: And what does it look like ?

Father: There's a lot more trees and vegetation. There's jungles and forests, lakes with waves that seem to stretch indefinitely on the horizon, plains made out of sand, mountains and a lot of other things

Timmy: Wow ! I would love to go there !

But how and why did you and mom get there in this cage with other animals watching us ?

Father: Where we previously lived our population was dropping fast and we were at risk of disappearing because of the jungle being cut down by the other animals

But one day, a group of them approached us and they put us in this cage.

Timmy: But why would they do that ?

Father: I'm not sure but I suppose they wanted to help us and preserve our species since they didn't seem to be dangerous when they approached us. They didn't try to hurt us like the others.

I think it's for our own good.

Timmy: Thanks for talking to me about the outside world dad, it's really interesting !

Phone camera : Ahaha ! it's me, look how you're looking at me behind walls, you looks so funny !

The Lizard (Mind) : Wait, wait, what??!! This little thing can talk ?! I think I'm Sick, it's impossible...

The Lizard (Mind) : I'm finally in peace....

Little news from me. I was in Zoo with my class. Animals were all fascinating but I stay focus on the Flamingo because I know they’re your favorite. You’re going to laught but when I was observing them a snake came out of his cage. All the zoo was looking for him but me I didn’t notice anything. But suddenly I perceive a green color at the foot of a flamingo, It was the snake. I could scream to prevent but I found this moment so unsual that I said nothing. You would have seen how the snake observed the flamingo in the eyes. Like he was waiting this moment for centuries ; I felt all the tension in me . They were wathing each other like they were old friends. Next he crawl towards me. I didn’t even get scared because I knew he wouldn’t hurted me. He stopped at my feet, looked straight in my eyes and nodded and left. I don’t know why but I’m sure of myself that it was you talling me that evering going to be alright .

Flamingos are in pink with pride

Little legs and feathers bright

They move slowly in the night

With wings open, they take flight

Painting sky with soft delight

In the calm of fading light

Flamingos bring a lovely sight

Together in a peaceful show

Flamingos in the sunset glow

Their beauty in the evening air

Their coats like hair

Two old friends are meeting:

Iguana: Pascal

Meerkat: Bob

Pascal: Hi Bob!! How are you? It’s been a long time since we saw each other!!

Bob: Hi Pascal ! I’m very well and you? It’s true I missed you sweetheart !!

Pascal: I’ve seen better days…I feel a little sad…

Bob: aww!! My beloved Pascal, what’s wrong?

Tank : But why do these people look at us like that without moving ? Do they admire us ?

Yogi : We're in a zoo so people are there to observe the animals. We're not the only ones and in general they're endangered animals.

Tank : Oh okay, that’s good. But I'm pulling off the leaves and trying to find something to eat. They must be bored.

Yogi : No, that entertains them because they don't see animals of this kind every day. And do you feel free in this enclosure ?

Tank : No, I'm not too free because our space is limited but on the other hand we are fed. We also take care of us and then our enclosure is big all the same.

Yogi : Yes, it's true ! I have the same thoughts as you and then I find that thanks to this zoo we can meet good people.

Tank : I'll leave you, I'm going to eat what the zookeeper gives us !!

Snake: “Hello, Sloth. Just basking in the sun as usual. How about you? Any exciting plans?”

Sloth: slowly stretches “Not really. Just thinking about moving to a different branch. Maybe… later.”

Snake: hisses a laugh “You take your time, as always. Do you ever get bored moving so slowly?”

Sloth: “Not at all. Life is more enjoyable when you savor each moment. Besides, rushing isn’t really my thing.”

Snake: “I get that. I move quickly when I need to, but I also enjoy just lying here, soaking up the warmth. It’s a nice balance.”

Sloth: nods slowly “Balance is good. You know, sometimes I think the world moves too fast. They miss out on the little things.”

Snake: “True. Patience has its rewards. Like this perfect sunbeam I found. Took a while, but it’s just right.”

Sloth: “Exactly. Slow and steady has its perks. Speaking of which, I think it’s time for a nap.”

Snake: “Enjoy your rest, Sloth. I’ll be here if you need someone to talk to when you wake up.”

Sloth: smiles “Thanks, Snake. See you in a few hours.”

Snake: “Sweet dreams, Sloth.”

But a different orangutan, this one differed from the others by its long black and orange hairs and its large size. He seems very old and very wise, like an old man. By observing it, I was able to see that humans and animals share a lot of points in common, particularly humans and monkeys.

In the Jersey Zoo, there is an aged orangutan,

with long black ang orange fur, in peace does stand.

His eyes filled with wisdom and melancholy,

delight,

the orangutan, from a distant world, takes flight.

The days pass by, calm and measured,

The orangutan, guardian of his own truth.

In the Jersey Zoo, amidst walls and ages,

Reigns a master orangutan, a symbol wisdom's pages.

Big monkey: Why are they all looking at me like that?

Little monkey: You are in front of them, they are obviously looking at you.

Big monkey: Don't they have better things to do than watch a monkey eat?

Little monkey: I remind you that we are in a zoo where the principle is to look at the animals.

Big monkey: I know. But there are other animals to look at, why are they looking at us?

Little monkey: We are the most entertaining animals in the zoo because of your mood swings every 5 minutes.

Big monkey: What do you mean by that?

Little monkey: Well as soon as someone approaches you you get angry and make a spectacle of yourself in front of everyone.

Big monkey: Are you looking for me?

Butterfly : Hello, who are you little girl ?

Me : I am Noémie and I' m a student, can I take a picture of you please ?

Butterfly : No, I am the leader of the butterflies, no one looks down on me like that !

Me : I'm sorry I didn't mean to offend you, What can I do to forgive myself ?

Butterfly : I didn't accept you're apologises, who are you human to talk to me like that.

Me : I understand your anger and I would like to do something to prove to you that I am not like the other humans you have met.

Butterly : Mhh I'm thinking about what you could do for me.

30 minutes later

Butterfly : I'm not going to ask you much dear human, I would like you to take me from my best angle, where my wings are amazing, my skin sparkling.

Me : No worries I take the best photo that no one has taken before

In the zoo of Jersey

A huge animal resides

A spectacle of grace that captivates

His orange fur shine like the sun glow

in this place it reigns with a majestic flow

A symbol of nature and harmony

Which provokes curiosity

With his agility he seems to dance

Let's remember it's importance.

I've been found in the "forest islands"

And my color is as beautiful as a diamond.

I like living in dryland

And I like people to look at me because I'm different.

But despite my appearance,

There's a total difference.

I can give you poison with confidence

And leave without indifference.

But don't worry, I only attack insects

To add them in my collect.

So everything is perfect,

Cuz you will be protect. :)

The king of the forest slides

it moves silently

to capture its prey easily

the moon flashes its scales

it's small but could kill whales

respect the serpent, ancient and wise

in its world of secrets, it quietly lies

Meerkats are naturally nervous animals, they overthink everything and it can lead them to werird conclusions...

Matthew: pssssss Steven !!

Matthew: pss Steven Steveeen !!

Steven: What. Can't you see I'm busy ?

Matthew: People are looking at us !! I swear I saw a girl looking at me 2 minutes ago.

Steven: You're paranoid, they are not, they're probably looking at their phones.

Matthew: And taking pictures of us ! Are we famous ?

Steven: At least we deserve to be.

Matthew: Steven !! We're probably huge stars on social media !!

Steven: I know, but don't forget that we're still simple meerkats living our best life in Jersey. You need to keep your feet on the ground and not let your celebrity change you. And look, our favorite keeper, Margaret is coming to give us our food.

Matthew: Margaret !! She probably wants my autograph !

Steven: No..

Jack : I think it's time to eat Josh. I can hear the keeper coming.

Josh : Finally! I've been rotting on this branch all morning waiting for her.

Jack : Do you think she'll be mad at us for sleeping in and not meeting the visitors ?

Josh : She better not and anyways, what could she do about it. We're the kings of animals.

Jack : I thought the kings of animals were lions, Josh.

They went outside to meet the keeper and get something to eat. After a while they decide on what to do.

Jack : So... are we staying outside to get some exercise or what...

Josh : Nope. Too tired. Ate too much. Going back to sleep.

Jack : Come on bro... not cool.

mom:Yes, it's normal, they're never seen blue frog

frog:WHAT, not all frog are blue. So why are there only blue frogs here? Why are there no other colored frogs?

mom:Here there are only frogs but you there are other species here and not just frogs. We are not in real nature here we are in an animal park that is why you never seen other frogs.

frog: We're not at home. What's outside? Why are we here?

mom: I don't know. You can consider this place your home. And outside the sky is blue but also gray it changes color and the weather too, it's magical.

frog: I have a dream: to see the outside world.
