2.      PBS LearningMedia -    Awe inspiring collection of free multimedia resources that were specially made for classroom use.
3.      org - A wonderful collection of social studies content. Includes lesson plans, assignment ideas, etc.
4.      Library of Congress -    Take advantage of one of the world’s largest collection of online digital resources for social studies.
5.      National Archives -          Peruse a collection of U.S. history docs and other resources.
6.      Smithsonian Learning Lab -      Access a treasure trove of Smithsonian resources.
7.      Digital Public Library of America -      A collection of historical and cultural items that are second to none.

St. years ago my class did a virtual field trip with one of the curators at the WWII museum in NOLA. Plus they sent a foot locker of primary artifacts for us to investigate, complete with gloves for students to wear! 
The British Museum has a wonderful website that I referenced often, and it also includes interactives and games for students to play online. 
There are many virtual field trips that you can take, such as visiting Pompeii. 
Also, another thing I did quite often was use webquests. 
With my special needs students, we used Educreations for them to create a presentation for the class with partners. This way they did not have to stand in front of the class, but I could play their presentation on the board at the front of the class. They were much more comfortable with that.

After learning different things in this class I believe it may be easier to use technology in the classroom. I think some QR codes could be used to bring information found online to the classroom. I believe there are many things online that can be used. I really enjoyed reading Pam's comment about the virtual field trip. That seems like it would be a lot of fun and would keep the students interested in the lesson. I am still searching for some really good interactive technology in that field. Anything from virtual field trips to just a simple interactive website. One of the things you could utilize is Google Earth. In a sense, it could be used like a virtual field trip. You can create a puzzle type of thing through a website and have the students to match the pieces to where they go, this is a great way to learn where the states are in the
