Outline of ideas for music video (narrative, characterisation, concepts etc...)

For my music video, I have decided the female protagonist will be leaving her boyfriend - he won't be in the bed asleep as suggested in the first draft treatment. Throughout the music video, there will be a number of shots which act as flashbacks; the female protagonist will be shown reflecting on her relationship as she packs up and leaves. In the opening, the shots will be up the happier times that they had together - the beginning on the relationship. As the song goes on the shots will become more sad, as the audience watch how the relationship unraveled and why she is leaving. In addition, there will be a number of shots where the female protagonist is singing the verses. Furthermore, as the female protagonist leaves and travels to her next destination, there will be a number of shots of the couples she sees as she gets away from her ex - the couples will be shown happy and in love.

Resources that will be needed? (actors, props, settings, technical resources)

In order to produce my music video, I will need a variety of different resources to enable production. This includes:

Actors: The music video will focus on one couple; the female protagonists will be more dominant as the male's face won't be shown throughout the music video. There will also be four other couples, which will be selected at random, who will feature in the music video as the female protagonist admires other relationships.

Cameras: In order to shoot any footage and great a variety of different shots, I will require three camera's that I will collect from school.

Tripods: To prevent shakiness in the footage, tripods will be necessary.

Costumes - In order to ensure I am able to convey the personality and character of my artist but also am able to change throughout my music video, a variety of different costume changes will be needed. In addition, this helps my actors to get into character.

Locations - Throughout the music video, we will need to use a variety of different locations. This will enable the audience to see the change in narrative - allowing it to flow easily - and is much more interesting. Some of the locations will include a market, basketball court, Shoreditch, a park, a cafe and a house.

Justification of ideas relation to artist, genre and audience questionnaire and focus group information

From my interview it was very obvious that my audience enjoy a clear narrative, which is also a key theme in my genre, Neo-Soul, therefore I chose to pick the common theme of love and heartbreak. In addition, many of the female participants in my interview stated that they were able to connect to emotional music videos as they focused on common issues. Therefore, it was important for me to use this music video to have a story that most could relate to but also show that there is little at the end of the tunnel (cliche, I know!). By having a happier ending, my audience are able to finish the video feeling happy and also learn a lesson from he music video - which is a common theme in Neo-soul. I chose to add in other couples as it makes the music video much more interesting and will appeal to my audience more.
