6. Say Something- Reading focus strategy. Read a short chunk and "say something" about.  Read another chunk, and then say something, etc.  This is done with partners.

7. One Word Summary
Synthesis strategy- Choose one word that represents the day. Explain why? Choose a speaker to share out. Generally done with table groups at the end of a shared learning session.

DAY 2

8. 3-2-1  +1
This is used to recapture ideas from previous learning/activities. (Handout, p. 19)
First step: Individuals record:
3- key ideas from Day 1
2- strength/stretch (regarding previous learning/activity)
1- point to ponder
Step 2:
Partners discuss these ideas. As the do, they will record new ideas in a +1 column.
Step 3:
After discussion, generate questions and discuss.

Day 3

Paraphrase Workout
The group was asked, "Given what you know about, what can you tell me about... " After this initial conversation, the group engaged in an activity that allowed individuals to practice the skill of paraphrasing.

Line-up Beverage
This is used to organize the group into a line that will later be reorganized into pairs or small groups. Participants line up in alphabetical order according to their favorite beverage. Lisa later had group create A and B partners to engage in a Paired conversation.

Paired- (Verbal fluency was topic.)
Give content with which participants are familiar. Partner A shares, Partner B shares. This continues with each partner being sure not to repeat an idea shared by the other. NOTE: Lisa made clear that it should be a large concept that lends itself to a wide opportunity for dialogue.

I am trying to provide communication on one document in lieu of sending bits and pieces.  So this is a list of things still pending. I also have this on our Padlet, which will be how I communicate future “bits and pieces.” I am trying to avoid cluttering your email inbox. Because we will be meeting weekly, I think a weekly Padlet update will be the best way to go.

        Workday calendars- Please submit at this Friday’s meeting. (Make a copy for your own records.) I spoke with HR, so this is what we will do:

a.     To add 2 more days- Mark an X on 2 green squares. 

b.     As a group, we agreed to select 1/12 and 1/13 to represent the 15 hours of work.* 

c.      Please provide me with evidence of online PD completion by May 31. Here are some options:

Please be prepared to present the Adult Learning Theory slides you created. We will dedicate time to reviewing those ideas and consider how adult learning theory will be important to our work. I will provide some time to polish your websites, so bring your devices. Our goal will be to finalize the sites, so I ask that we support one another to accomplish that. These are the two major items on our agenda. Come with an open mind and heart, and we will accomplish a lot! (I believe we will be meeting in the Training Room, but I must verify. Look for signs or stop by my office/the TIPS Dept.

Scheduling problems- Thanks for your great ideas and willingness to be part of the solution. We may need to meet again to strategize. I am so appreciative and want to acknowledge my appreciation for your dedication and professionalism.

InfoGraphic- Jennifer has provided an opportunity for us to collaborate on this important document. I am hoping to send it out next week.

Site Visits- I have visited a few of you, but I am hoping to move forward. Please sign-up here. I will try to ensure those times stay protected, but my schedule is sometimes not within my control. I apologize in advance if something pops up; however, I am just visiting so there is no need to make special plans.

 New TEC friends- Martin Perez, currently a teacher at Kennedy, will be joining us very soon. I believe he will be at this Friday's meeting. We all know it can be challenging to be new to a cohesive group, so make room at your tables. We may also have some of our high school, part-time TEC folks. These individuals have been offering up their prep time to support teachers at their sites. (I think our little room will be way too cozy!)

ELD trainings - Starting 12/9 Linda and Robyn will be presenting ELD-specific professional learning. They will present at 3 pm on those days we begin early.

Holiday Celebration- Be thinking about a way to share some friendship time before we go on winter break. Our calendars get pretty crazy, so it may be best to dedicate one of our Friday afternoons? Let's get it on our calendar.
