Medicine is the most interesting achievement of the Muslim Golden Age because it showed a huge difference in cultures between Medieval Europe and Muslims. While the Muslims were making huge advances in medicine, Medieval Europe was suffering through the Black Death. The Muslims had people like Muhammad al-Razi who were writing books about medicine, many people in Medieval Europe didn't even know how to write. Thus, through medicine you can tell that they Muslims were making huge advnacements during their "golden age".

Medicine was by far the greatest achievement of the Muslim Empire as it had the most direct affect on our lives today. First, Muslims had to pass a test that allowed them to be a physician. This minimized the number of physicians who had little skill. Muslims were making new medicines during their Golden Age, while Western Europe was using leeches to cure people. Muslims were making medicines that were curing many diseases. Also, a Muslim physician named Ibn Sina created the Canon of Medicine. This was an encyclopedia of medical prescriptions, cures, and treatments many types of diseases. This book was used for many years. Clearly, medicine was the impressive achievement of the Muslim Empire.

The medicinal accomplishments in early Islamic time contributed to what made the abbasid what it was. Before becoming a physician or a doctor people had to be well educated, there were tests beforehand to become certified. This made it so not just anyone can preform on patients. Hospitals were built in order to help people who were ill or injured. People were also becoming pharmacists, they mixed sweet syrups and gums in medicine for a treatment method. The scholar Muhammad al-Razi was able to bring great knowledge into Islam, he was a physician and a writer of many books on medicine. The Canon of Medicine was an encyclopedia which had medical and science knowledge. This allowed people to become educated and spread their knowledge.

The Golden Age of Islam opened a path for impressive achievements, among the best being the medical improvements. During this golden age Muslims were not only finding new ways to heal and cure, but hospitals were built for citizens to stop in and receive their needed care. Medical help was not only supplied in hospitals, physicians would travel to jails and rural areas to provide health care. Pharmacists of the time learned to mix sweet syrups and gums in medicine to make them easily ingestible along with the creation of new medicines in general. In contrast to Medieval Europe, Muslim's were developing ways to cure and treat many illnesses while Europeans were being killed widespread plagues and sickness. The achievements of Muslim medicine lasted for centuries beyond their time and helped to cure hundreds of people beyond the common cold. Doctors and physicians such as Ibn Sina and Muhammad al-Razi wrote books on their discoveries, such as the Canon on medicine a huge encyclopedia of what the Greeks, the Arabs, and Ibn Sina himself had learned about diagnosing and treating diseases. This book along with others have treated hundreds of people and are still to this day used in the medical field. Whether treating cataracts or supplying new methods of prescribing medicine, the Muslim medical advancements have had a lasting effect on society proving to be their most impressive achievement.

While Medieval Europe was struggling through the "dark ages", consisting of the dreaded Crusades and the bubonic plague, Muslim civilization was going through a golden age, full of art, medical, scientific, and mathematical achievements. Of all these achievements, the most impressive achievement is definitely the Canon On Medicine, an encyclopedia by Ibn Sina that combined all Greek and Arab knowledge of medicine into a book. First of all, this is very impressive because in Western Europe, leeches and herbs were used to treat disease, and much of it was unsuccessful. However, the encyclopedia includes many prescriptions and procedures that can be used to diagnose and treat the disease. Another benefit of this was that since some of the ingredients needed for prescriptions came from other countries, such as mercury from Spain and myrrh from South Africa , this increased the need for trade, which is important for welfare and can lead to cultural diffusion, so more medical information can be learned. Also, this book allows other people in the future to expand upon the ideas of medicine and create new innovations. This medical knowledge can be spread to other countries/places so it could be learned and then grown upon. This book can have an impact all around the world. Clearly, the Canon On Medicine can make a great impact on everyone. As well, other positive effects came out of this one encyclopedia such as trade and possible evolution of medical practices.

One of the most impressive achievements was medicine. The Muslims built hospitals to give quick treatment to injured people. The hospitals were similar to modern emergency rooms. However, in rural areas physicians could travel to people who were unable to reach hospitals. Also, Muslims treated cataracts. Cataracts were treated by drawing fluid out of the eye lenses with a hollow needle. This method was used all around the world for many years after. In Medieval Europe, doctors used leeches to suck the disease out of the people. During the Muslim Golden Age, doctors used sweet syrups and gum in their medicine. This medicine was more effective than the leeches. The Persian physician Ibn Sina contributed to medicine by creating the Canon on Medicine. Many new improvements to astronomy and medicine started to form. Especially in medicine, the muslims had started to improve the way people are treated and set standards that are now used today. They had built hospitals and had started to require physicians, caliphs, and pharmacists to take a test in order to perform their profession. Many books were made on treating techniques and books were also made with diseases and diagnosis. A muslim scholar named Ibn Rushd had studied medicine and astronomy. He worked hard as a doctor and became chief physician to a Muslim Ruler and he had written books on his astronomy studies. Compared to Medieval Europe, they were stuck in time and were barely advancing in science,no hospitals nor were there developments in medicine. Overall, the most impressive achievement of the Muslim Golden Age would be the advancements science.

The most impressive Muslim achievement was medicine because of the advances that are the start of things we use today. The government set up hospitals where people could get quick treatment which is known as todays emergency room. Surgeons also found ways to treat eyesight by drawing fluid out of the lenses with a hollow needle. Arab pharmacists were also the first to turn bitter medicines into sweet syrups and gums. This new learning of medicine was the start of medicine we know of today. One of the most original medical thinkers was Muhammad al-Razi. He wrote many books on medicine, including studies of measles and small pox. He also challenged existing medicine and advised young doctors to treat the mind as well as the body. Clearly, medicine was the most impressive achievement because it helped save many people and is the branch of medicine we use today.

Muslims used camels to trade, the camels were known as the ships of the deserts. Trade was a big achievement because it led to many other things. Trading led to the spread of products, technology, knowledge and culture. During trade, sugar was carried from India and paper making from China, this introduced Islam to a lot of regions. The spread of Islam made more people learn Arabic which helped with global exchange. Trade also led to create new business practices. This helped form banks. The start of trading may have just been to get food or supply but in the long run spread Islam culture, language, and helped create a banking system.

The Muslim Empire, however, was doing great for themselves as they were experiencing their "Golden Age". During the Muslim Golden Age, I feel the most impressive achievement is the reintroduction of education as a main focus as well as striving to provide everyone with a basic education. With a better education, people were able to accomplish many other major achievements, including advancements in science, architecture, which requires math, and economics. With the basic education that all citizens were given, some could even take their education further.

One muslim achievement that was greatly important during the Muslim Golden Age would be the centers of learning. Caliphs such as Al-mamun created these centers in multiple cities and the libraries within caught the attention of highly respected and wealthy scholars. Due to the centers, scholars were able to make advances in philosophy, mathematics, medicine, and many other fields. If it weren't for the centers, many pre-civilizations wouldn't be preserved and a portion of history would be lost. Many ancient texts were translated into Arabic such as Sanskrit, Greek and Persian. A Scholars passion for seeking knowledge is the main reason many fields have advanced. Al-Khwarizmi was a scholar that pioneered the study of algebra and created a standard mathematics textbook in Europe, while also contributing to other fields such as astronomy. Without his passion for learning, he wouldn't be remembered as the successful scholar he was.

The Muslim Golden age was a time of prosperity and success, however, the most impressive achievement in this time were the advances in medicine. The Muslims took the medical information gathered by the Greeks and expanded on that. With all of the highly intelligent doctors, the Muslims created a government- run hospital system with an urgent-care system that was something similar to today's emergency rooms and urgent care facilities. Muslim scholars and physicians found cures and treatments for many diseases that used to kill and greatly afflict many people. One in particular is cataracts, a disease of the eye. One Muslim scholar responsible for a lot of the methods used in medicine was Muhammad al-Razi. He wrote books on medicine, and questioned common medical beliefs known to society. His belief was to "treat the mind as well as the body", which means that mental health and physical health are both equally important. He advised young doctors to do the same. While the Muslims were experiencing a time of prosperity in the east, in the West, Europe was undergoing a dark age. Medieval Europe had no knowledge of medical practices, so when the Black Plague struck, it was a catastrophe for the people of Europe. However, if a disease like happened to strike the Muslims during this golden age, the Muslims would be ready, and it wouldn't have been such a tragic event.

The idea of the financial advances with thoughts of credit, banks, and checks along with the help from Muhammad al-Razi boldly show how this Muslim Golden age contrasts Medieval Europe. In the time from the beginning of the empire to its end there were numerous advances involving the new idea of credit instead of only bartering. Also, the idea that an early form of check could be cashed in anywhere with a universal bank system put the Muslims ahead of everyone. The medical physician Muhammad al-Razi helped with extreme work on certain diseases such as small-pox and measles, one of the first physicians to try to combat the disease. Unlike the Muslim empire, Europe was a mess, instead of trying to figure out diseases like the Muslims, in Europe people put leeches on their bodies to try to fend off disease. While the Muslim empire was working in harmony, Its western counterpart was a complete mess. As a result, with the vast differences between medieval Europe and the Muslim empire, it is clear the extensive work in the financial field shows the best side of the Muslim empire.

During the Muslim golden age, people of this time period made many great advances in learning. One of their greatest advances in learning was in medicine and public health. Built on previous knowledge of Greek medicine, they required pharmacists to pass a test in order to practice their profession. They set up hospitals in which the sick could receive treatment quickly, and physicians would travel to rural places and jails, where people couldn’t get to a hospital. Muhammad al-Razi wrote many books on medical studies such as measles and smallpox, while also questioning accepted practices. This was contradictory to the almost non-existent study of medicine in Medieval Europe, where questionable/under-examined treatment was continued and unsanitary conditions kept people vulnerable to sickness. These advances in the Muslim golden age ultimately improved medicine and our medical studies today built off theirs.

The greatest Muslim achievement was their advanced medicine. During Medieval Times when most of Europe was suffering, the Muslims were studying medicine and finding treatments for diseases. One Muslim medical thinker Muhammad al-Razi theorized that if doctors were hopeful with their patients their recovery would be faster. Another Physician Ibn Sina known in Europe as Avicenna wrote a huge encyclopedia on diagnosing and treating diseases, the book contained many prescriptions containing mercury from Spain, Myrrh from East Africa and Camphor from India. Eventually European physicians began to attend Muslim Universities in Spain and they studied Avicenna and al-Razi's works as the standard medical textbooks for the next 500 years. Next Muslims even developed ways to treat cataracts saving the vision of their patients by drawing fluid out of the lenses with a hollow needle. Lastly Muslims mixed bitter medicines with sweet syrups and gums creating the original gummy vitamins. In conclusion the Muslims greatest achievement was medicine because they contributed so much to modern day medicine.

Art, the Muslim people created amazing designs to please the eye that you still see today in places such as churches, paintings that you see in your daily life, and other things such as buildings. This type of art is called an arabesque. This style of art does not include any imagery of people because that is against muhammad's beliefs. Clearly, this style of art has stuck around and has had an impact on society.

Many great works of literature were created in the Muslim Golden Age. Their style was a blend of all the different cultures they had conquered such as Indian, Greek, Roman, and Persian. This diversity lead to many great stories and writers. For example, there were great poets such as Rabiah al-Adawiyya who wrote about Sufi mysticism and Firdawsi who wrote the history of Persia. The literature written during the Muslim golden age was a massive improvement compared to the complete lack of writing in medieval Europe, where most people couldn't read at all. Clearly, the tremendous amount and variation of Muslim literature truly shows why the Abbasid is a golden age.

I believe Medicine was the greatest achievement made during the Muslim Golden Age because some of their discoveries are still used today. For instance, using knowledge passed down from the greeks through trade and travel, they were able to learn and treat many diseases like small pox or measles. Also, they documented their studies and wrote books to educate others on their discoveries. at the age of 16, Ibn Sina was considered a "doctor to Persian nobility". He wrote the Cannon on Medicine, an encyclopedia on what he, the arabs and greeks learned about treating diseases. It included many prescriptions for sicknesses from places like East Africa and Spain. Finally, in comparison to Medieval Europe, their medicine is more advanced. In Europe, they used leeches to "draw out the disease" in people when really the loss of blood is making the sickness worse. They also spat on wounds to heal them, but there is no explanation as to why they thought this procedure would work. Possibly they saw an animal lick its wound and they assumed that the saliva from the animal had some healing power. The truth is, the bacteria from the saliva is making the wound worse and would cause infections that could lead to death. Therefore, medicine was most likely one of the greatest achievements made by the Muslims during their Golden Age.

During medieval Europe the architecture was not the most appealing. The churches had high arches and flying buttresses but other than that nothing really stood out. During the Abbasid age the mosques and minarets became a symbol of Islam. Domes and arches were decorated with geometric patterns and beautiful calligraphy. Poets like Firdawsi or Omar Khayyám could have used this calligraphy in their poetry. Verses from the Quran and other Arabic script made beautiful decorations. In addition to architecture, art was also impressive. It not only influenced religion but outside of religion. Scientific works used art to depict the human body and poetry used painted figures.

It was during the Muslim Golden Age that the idea of hospitals with emergency rooms was developed. Also, the Muslims figured out a way to treat cataracts of the eye by draining the lenses of the eye with a needle. This practice, along with many others, was logged in Ibn Sina's "Canon on Medicine", which was a giant encyclopedia filled with Greek and Arab knowledge on diagnosing and treating various diseases and illnesses. The Muslims were additionally the first people to turn disgusting medicine into syrups and gum, making them more desirable and easy to take. Ironically, while all these advancements in medicine were being made by the Muslims, a third of the people in Europe were dying of the black death. These discoveries probably could have been veery beneficial to them.

One achievement made in the field of medicine was hospitals. In the hospitals, people could get quick treatment for illness or injury. Another achievement that changed lives in the field of medicine was the "Canon on Medicine". This book helped people who couldn't get to hospitals, treat their injuries or illnesses. Achievements that were made have also helped influence medicine for many years afterwards. For example, the work or Avicenna and al-Razi became textbooks for 500 years. Also, the way medicine is made now is used because of Arab pharmacists. Arab pharmacists mixed bitter medicine with tasty syrups to create medicine. Pharmacists now use the same techniques. My advances were made during the Muslim Golden Age that affected the lives of Muslims then as well as the whole world now. They created hospitals, so that people had a place to go and get treated for any their medical problems, kind of like a modern day emergency room (doctors had to perform a test in order to be in this field). Muslim surgeons also helped and created a way to treat cataracts. Cataracts left many people blind causing them to be the number one lead in human blindness at the time, these methods are even used today in modern society.

The Muslim Golden Age was a time filled with numerous advancements that greatly helped the people of Islam, however the most prominent achievement of the Muslim Golden Age was the discovery of common diseases. The discovery and treatment of diseases such as smallpox and measles greatly helped the people of Islam, as well as places such as Europe. Due to the help of Muslim scholar Muhammad al-Razi (who wrote about medicine in many books and and conducted a study of measles and smallpox), the people of Islam were able to be treated in medical hospitals. These medical findings that were published were often translated into Latin, and were placed into standard medical textbooks in European schools to be used for the next 500 years. However, during this time in Europe, medical professionals were not aware of the perils that lay ahead for them. Medical hospitals were another one of Muslims greatest achievements they helped many unwell people in the Islam community with many simple remedies. Medical professionals in Europe were ill-equipped for the disease that swept across Europe and killed one in every three people. This disease is known as the Bubonic Plague, and is thought to have been easily treated with the correct diagnosis and medicine. There were no professional hospitals or places of shelter for the sick in Europe (unlike in Islam), so the sick were left to fend for themselves and die. The Muslim Golden Age was a time filled with many great advancements and medical findings that still benefit the world today.

During the Muslim Golden Age many things such as, art, geometry and education flourished. But, none of them were are big and as vital then their discoveries in science. Meanwhile, Western Medieval Europe was taken over by the plague. It is clear from their history (unlike the Muslims) that they did not make any improvement in their health departments. The muslims learned to build hospitals for people that were injured so that they could receive quick treatment for their wounds. This is similar to todays emergency room. Also, doctors traveled to rural areas to provide healthcare to the people that were unable to get to a city. Additionally, they learned to treat cataracts, which was a problem in the past for many people. Pharmacists learned to make medications by mixing sweet syrups and gums. Many doctors, pharmacists and medical thinkers wrote books on disease and medicine to inform people about what was going on. For example, medical thinker named Muhammad al-Razi wrote an extraordinary book on medicine, science and diseases that helped the Muslim empire flourish. These books provided a lot information to help people know what to do when they were sick. Therefore, the achievements made by the Muslims on health sciences were very important.

The advance of medicine is the most impressive achievement of the Muslim Golden Age. The Muslims have made many different advances to the field of medicine. One of the reasons why medicine is the most impressive achievement is because some muslim surgeons have developed a way to treat cataracts. This is a great achievement because by finding a way to cure cataracts more people in the world have been able to clear out their eyes. The way they were able to do this was by draining out the lenses of the eye with a needle. Ibn Sina was able to make a book about the different diagnoses and treatments he discovered. Also, Arab pharmacists were one of the first people to turn bitter-tasting medicines into sweet-tasting syrups. Overall, the most impressive achievement of the Muslim Golden Age is Medicine.

Islam, who had their own Muslim Golden Age, had many great achievements during the era of Medieval times in Europe. Although many think the era of Medieval times were a dark time, Islam had many great years of inventions and achievements. Medicine was one of the many great achievements during the Muslim golden ages. During the Muslim Golden Age, many hospitals were built to benefit the people of Islam. Doctors learned how to treat cataracts and studied many diseases such as measles and smallpox. Muhammad Al-Razi was one of these great doctors that studied these diseases and wrote many books on the study of them. Another great achievement in medicine was the cannon of medicine this was an encyclopedia of medicine, Ibn Sina( also known as Avicenna) was the creator of this. In this era there were also pharmacist who created medicine made of sweet syrup and gums for patients. During the dark ages in Medieval Europe medicine was not advanced and many didn't know how to cure simple disease causing many to die. This is the reason why 30-60% of the population in Europe decreased. The Muslim advances of medicine greatly impacted the muslim community and still impact us today.

The Muslim Empire reigning from 622 to 1629 AD was a high-achieving civilization that was critically underrated due to its presence in the Dark Ages, where many unfortunate events were occurring in Europe. In my opinion, the greatest achievement of this civilization's golden age was its contributions to medicine. In earlier times, if someone was sick or injured in any way, a doctor was called upon, and the process could be complex. The Muslims at this time started to develop hospitals where these doctors could practice on those suffering from various ailments. The pharmacists of the time mixed sweet syrups and gums with bitter medicines, increasing the flavor and popularity of these treatments for centuries to come. This civilization also came up with a way to treat cataracts in the eye-an ailment that would once blind the person suffering from them in, say, Europe or other distant countries. Another innovative product of this golden age was the Canon of Medicine, an encyclopedia used in modern times to list and describe medical problems along with their treatments for professional use. One famous key contributor to medicine was Muhammad al-Razi, a successful physician who was able to distinguish contagious diseases from each other and wrote a book on diseases that was used for centuries after he died by doctors. His contribution to medicine was prolific, as many other figures of his time were.

There were also books written that taught other people things about medicine. For an example, Muhammad al-Razi wrote a book on the study of measles and smallpox and Ibn Sina wrote a book a encyclopedia used to learn about diagnosing and treating people. Clearly, medicine is the most impressive achievement because it saves many lives.

The medical techniques developed have helped us tremendously to this day. During medieval Europe the people suffered because there were no medical improvements. Luckily during medieval times for Muslims there were lots of medical advancements, like learning to treat cataracts. A surgeon would draw fluid out of the eye using a hollow needle, this technique was used for centuries. A Persian physician by the name of Ibn Sina was most famous for his work the Canon on Medicine, an encyclopedia that combined all of his and others knowledge of diagnosing and treating diseases. Medicine was a key part of life for Muslims because they could have all been suffering like the rest of Europe.

During the Muslim Golden Age, there were a number of achievements and enhancements to life. The most notable of these has to be the improvements in medicine introduced by the Muslims. One significant improvement is the introduction of hospitals. During Medieval Times, no such place existed. Many people were sick and spreading diseases such as the Black Plague with nowhere to go for help. Muslim doctors also gained the knowledge to treat medical issues like cataracts, creating a procedure that doctors would use for hundreds of years. In Baghdad’s head hospital, a famous physician named Muhammad al-Razi claimed that a positive mindset will aid in faster recovery for patients. He wrote many books on his studies. All in all, the improvements in medicine were the important achievements in the Muslim Golden Age.
