Late 2016 my husband came home and told me that he was over his job and that he wanted to apply for a very interesting job in Wellington (we live in Palmerston North). I encouraged him to go for it and that Wellington would be a great place to live. Well, he got the job, accepted the position and resigned from his employer. Planning began to sell our house, buy a property in Wellington, find schools for the children and the logistics of actually shifting. A week before he was due to starts his new job I was diagnosed with a major medical problem that forced us to change all our plans and stay in PNth. With all of that the major change has been that my poor husband is traveling every day to and from work on the Capital Connection which is fours hours a day and we hardly get to see him. It's not been easy and the risk of him changing jobs has left us in a position of uncertainty however we appreciate that every change comes with inherent risks but without taking those risks we are often left in a stagnant position of not embracing opportunity.

In 2013 my husband and I decided to pack up our life in Australia, our home and belongings and stable jobs to move back to NZ so that he could pursue tertiary study. This involved moving in with his parents and other siblings until we could afford to be out on our own. Risks associated with this were:
- myself not being able to find another job
- us not being able to find/afford a house on own own
-him possibly not enjoying study and pulling out
-not being able to afford to start a family

Note: 5 years on and we have finally moved into our own home, have 2 children under 4 and my husband is now completing his doctorate in psychology. Stepping out of our comfort zone is paying off :)

I lived in Chritchurch til 2010. The earthquakes struck and our house was red stickered (meaning it was unsafe to enter), so we were forced to live in a caravan during the 2010 winter . My dad and step mum at the time decided to move across the ditch and start life up again there. A year after that i had a falling out with my step mum and moved back to the north island with my mum. This was a significant change as i only lived in christchurch for 13 years, it really impacted on my schooling life as i never settled until year 12.
- I ended up having to do both NCEA level 1 and 2 in the same year.
- My dad had to make sure he had enough money to move there and find a job, a house etc.
