Like they say, when you enjoy doing something, the years fly on by! I have mainly worked with Infants and Toddlers during these years, and I must say the most rewarding part of being a teacher, has been being there to support a child every step of the way as they master developmental milestones. Although I am no longer in the classroom setting, I do babysit former students on a weekly base. It's so much fun! My professional experiences now as a Program Specialist has increased my knowledge on community resources I can refer parents to, to assist not only their families but the child mainly. However, now I am not quite sure. One thing is for sure, I want to coach teachers and be that person they can speak to if they are facing challenges in their classroom. While I was teaching at Children's Hospital Los Angeles CDC, the lead teachers would meet with a Coach from LA UP and we would speak about challenging behaviors or ask for suggestions on how to either change around the environment or setting up centers. As a teacher, I appreciated all the advice I was given and want to do the same for others.
