I am 29 years old and a mother of two beautiful girls. I currently live in East Los Angeles and began working as a Program Specialist at Children's Home Society of California late January 2019, where I provide subsidized child care for low income families. Prior to working at CHS, I thought mainly infants and toddlers for 10 years! I definitely miss the classroom setting and can't wait to return to my passion, making a difference in a child's life directly. My educational journey has been far from easy working full time, being a parent, and finding a balance in my sanity after my mom was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer November 2019. After a semester into the Master's Program at POC, I decided to take a break to recollect myself. However, this is my second session back and beyond excited to complete my MASTERS PROGRAM!

I have been in the field of Early Childhood Education for 10 years now! Like they say, when you enjoy doing something, the years fly on by! I have mainly worked with Infants and Toddlers during these years, and I must say the most rewarding part of being a teacher, has been being there to support a child every step of the way as they master developmental milestones. Although I am no longer in the classroom setting, I do babysit former students on a weekly base. It's so much fun! My professional experiences now as a Program Specialist has increased my knowledge on community resources I can refer parents to, to assist not only their families but the child mainly. I now do community outreach presentations to inform providers and families on the importance of a child's well-being and how it connects to their development!

I wanted to be a positive role model in my daughters' lives and showing them that they can accomplish anything they set their minds too and quitting never being an option. I decided to return and finish my schooling September 2017 after nearly being out of school for 5 years! But when I am not locked in the room doing homework, you can find me driving around town, taking the little one to softball practice and the oldest to her high school events and of course what my every weekend consists of!

Before beginning my Master's Program, I was so sure I wanted to become a Center Director or open my own child care center. However, now I am not quite sure. One thing is for sure, I want to coach teachers and be that person they can speak to if they are facing challenges in their classroom. While I was teaching at Children's Hospital Los Angeles CDC, the lead teachers would meet with a Coach from LA UP and we would speak about challenging behaviors or ask for suggestions on how to either change around the environment or setting up centers. As a teacher, I appreciated all the advice I was given and want to do the same for others. I want to share my experiences and motivations in the classroom! :)
