I would say I would like to see more representation for colored people in clubs. I know that people say this all the time but when i look at certain clubs and there is very little colored people.

In a lot of my school groups for classes, I served a sort of leadership role where I sort of gave everyone specific things to do. I would be the one to make sure everyone knew what they were doing and my group mates would check in with me when they finished. It was pretty nice actually.

Sometimes being essentially given the title of "leader" was a bit scary or daunting. It meant I had to be in the know about everything that was happening(that was relevant to what we were doing) and sometimes that stressed me out. Luckily I have really amazing friends and group mates who understand and are willing to help me just as I want to help them.

I have served as a leader during my volleyball season as team captain, lifting and motivating my teammates to push them forward.
1. It’s challenging to remember that whoever you are leading, they’re looking up to you so you almost always have to put up a positive and optimistic attitude

I’d like to see more Filipinos being more involved in Politics. It would be nice to see more Filipino representation in American Politics at higher levels of government (ie governors, senators, federal appointments etc.)

I think having a role in leadership puts a lot of pressure on you. Being a leader means to have people rely on you and you need to be a foundation for people to lean on.

1) A situation where I served as a leader was during my freshman and current sophomore year, being team captain of my volleyball team.

2) I wish I could see people caring about their grades more, I feel like being asian comes with having a good education due to parents but it surprises me about how little some people care about their grades.

3) Something challenging is having people rely on you a lot because they see you as a leader and it puts some sort of pressure on you.

I am also an ate, so the moment my brother was born, expectations that I would take care of him were going to be placed upon me before I was even conscious enough to make that decision for myself. In a way, I've been a leader because I've had to act as a "third parent" in some cases. Almost like a bridge to connect my siblings and my parents when there is a disconnect between them.
Family as a value is something I wish I saw valued more outside of filipino spaces.

One challenge about being a leader is making decisions for the challenge you have.

I think a difficult part about being a leader is staying true to yourself and respecting the fact the you are still human. It can be very stressful knowing that everyone is counting on you and the anxiety can make you forget why you are doing something and/or why you are passionate.
