Feels emotional and almost prayerful. The use of the sitar and chanting also makes it different from western music.

I think it is based on an old Indian song, interpreted by singer Kesarbai Kerkar. It was included in the ‘Voyager Golden Record’ which was a record sent into space aboard the Voyager 1 + 2 spacecraft in 1977(?)

Sitar, vocals, drum beat. These build and the vocals become more emotional as the track continues.

This was an interpretation of ‘raga Bhairavi’. A raga has roots in Hinduism, and therefore has a spiritual and devotional atmosphere. It could have been seen as an act of worship but I’m not sure what the translation of the lyrics are.

I am not sure what the lyrics say, but it sounds like someone pleading for something, or someone who is very emotional or earnest. Sounds like a prayer.

Sitar, drums, vocals

A sitar is played almost like a guitar, but it is 4ft in length, it is capable of the all-natural scale, the lydian flat-7 scale, minor scales etc. it can play ‘ragas’ which are like scales but also like compositions.

Starts with vocals and the sitar, then builds with drums. As the track continues it gets more emotional. There are repeated motifs but also varying melodies throughout.

After about 2 minutes, vocals start to get more intense.

It builds in vocals and intensity, the speed remains the same for most of the song, but then a sudden increase in speed happens near the end.

the same way you put a message in a bottle and throw it into earth's ocean.

Yes, it would be great if someone on the other side of the world found your bottle with your message in it and wrote back to you or contacted you.

I did more research on the voyager project and it made me think about humanity and our place in the universe, the song talks about a journey and I think this journey is symbolic for a lot of hopes and fears we have about life, death, being remembered ect. I watched a video which was narrated by Bill Nye about the project.
