People are not seperated by race or mistreated as bad as they were back then but, are still heavily disrespected by some people. Her family would have a better chance of filing to have that man arrested and put in jail for his wrong doings. Nowadays men won't get away with doing that as long as theirs some sort of evidence of witnesses.
