  • Establish and maintain rapport
  • Set clear expectations and post them in your classroom.  Expectations should be written in a positive manner
  • Assign helpers to help with transitions (Someone who passes out equipment, papers, etc. )
  • Have a class attention grabber-Something they echo, music, bell, etc.  Practice the attention grabber until everyone follows directions. 
  • Move around the room (not just at the front)
  • Be consistent
  • Use a tool such as classroomscreen

When I feel I am losing them to distraction, I will say, go back to the circle. Or eyes on me.
