Barbora Kučeríková (23) is a master's student at Tomas Bata University in Zlín. In a decrepit old cinema, several stories appear as ghosts. A compilation of films of different formats, project multiple versions of people beaten by life. “To a man, to be beaten or defeated in life depends, not of the apparent reality that he arouse – but of the intimate ideal for which he aspired.”, as stated, in 1887, by Eça de Queirós as the motto of the group Vencidos da Vida.

Rasga Mortalha comes from the legend of the owl "Suindara" - much told in the folklore of the North and Northeast of Brazil - to address the socio-political urgencies of the country. It is believed that the appearance of its white figure, followed by the wild cry - which resembles the sound of a cloth being torn in half - carries with it the sign of death. As a metaphorical vector for thinking, and also transcending, a fatalistic view of Brazilian history, the artist uses this popular tradition to cross centuries of public events with memories, references and personal imaginations, creating a charged and sharp narrative.

Gopal Shivakoti is a documentary filmmaker from Nepal.
He has been working in films and digital media since 2004. Primarily he is a visual editor who also does 2D animation, motion-graphics, and filming. He is a key resource person at “Young-Cuts! the filmmaking workshop” (in Kathmandu) for the past five years. His hobbies include Ethnology and documentary filming.
He has shot and edited “In Search of the Searchman” – a short documentary about the 8 million (plus) graffiti “Khoja/Search” that has been written and inscribed all over Nepal,
“When Shall I See My Daddy” – a short documentary about 14 years old boy whose father has gone to the USA and hasn’t returned to his home and family for ages.
“Save Gangamaya” a documentary film about Satyagrahi Gangamaya Adhikari - who is on fast-unto-death for the attainment of justice for the 2004 murder of her innocent teenager son is his first feature-length documentary, It received an overwhelming response in the international film festival circuit. “War Crime”, "Pinky Gurung", "We are with Dr. KC", "Gai Jatra" and "Chain and Worship" are his recent documentary films.

In parallel with handling multiple interests, he has been making films since he was a kid, presently working on various projects in Europe and the USA. Not only is he fascinated with humanity and art but also with science, currently studying for a Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering at University of Pisa, Italy and learning his 5th language. Yet as a teenager he managed to organise a local premiere of his thriller that attracted over 400 people. Since then his films have been screened and awarded at the festivals all around the world, where even the ones made entirely in only 48 hours with no budget for the competition '48 HFP' are being selected and win against regular financed productions.

Director Lam Can-zhao leads a small film crew as they shoot a film about a stray dog in the streets of Guangzhou, leading the viewer into an unpredictable, peculiar and incredible journey. Shot documentary-style while employing characteristics of hybrid cinema, THE DOG’s low-tech, casual style reveals a wealth of stories that reflects both the authenticity and occasional absurdity of the living situations of migrant workers and of those who otherwise live “below the line.” As the debut feature film directed by Lam, THE DOG reads more like a lonely rebel's exploration and revelation to the world.

Director Biography - Lam Can-zhao

Lam Can-zhao is a young film auteur born in the south of China in December 1994. His cinematic directorial debut was at the age of 20 with THE DOG, an experimental feature which has played over 30 international film festivals and won numerous awards. His second feature ANIMAL WORLD premiered in 2018 at the 29th Carthage Film Festival and won the Best Film at the Salamindanaw Asian Film Festival. Also, he has been directing documentary THE DAY BEFORE CHINESE NEW YEAR (2016) and HUMANS ON DISPLAY (2018).

 Leven Çetin은 1996년과 2000년 사이에 마르마라 대학교의 영화-TV 학과를 공부했습니다. Ali's Nature는 터키 문화부 기금이 지원하는 그의 두 번째 장편입니다.

 Leven Çetin studied Film-TV department of Marmara University between 1996 and 2000. He has graduated from Film&Television Master's program in Istanbul Bilgi University. He started to get involved with experimental cinema and video-art making in his university years. His works in this field were screened in many national and international festivals and exhibitions. He worked as an editor at various TV channels. He complicated his first feature film Civilian in 2014. He worked as a advisory board member of the National Short Film Competition of Istanbul Fılm Festıval. Ali’s Nature is his second feature supported by Turkish Ministry of Culture Fund.

Njattyela Sreedharan, a fourth standard drop-out, compiles a dictionary connecting four Indian languages. Travelling across four states and doing extensive research, he spent twenty five years making the multilingual dictionary. This unique dictionary offers a comparative study of Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu. 'Dreaming of Words' traces Sreedharan's life, work, love for languages and the struggles to get the dictionary published. The film also explores the linguistic and cultural diversity in India.

Director Biography - Nandan

Nandan is an Indian filmmaker and writer. He was born in Kerala into a family prominent in the field of arts and literature. It was during his college days that he watched Akira Kurosawa's 'Rashomon' and decided to be a filmmaker. He completed his B.Tech in Civil Engineering and worked in Bengaluru though his interest was always in the fine arts.

Set in the unresolved trauma of the Japanese occupation of Korea, Land of My Father (아버지의 땅) is a story about two individuals who take on the establishment in an attempt to change accepted historical narratives. A Korean farmer protests the Japanese government in Tokyo for claiming the disputed island territory of Dokdo after finding out his father was abducted and enslaved in an iron mine during the Japanese occupation of Korea. A Korean woman who lived on Dokdo with her father struggles to keep his legacy alive after the Korean government mysteriously erased their history of being pioneering residents.

The film shows the creative process between a director and an actress while they rehearse a play called "Rabbit". Two stories are narrated in the midst of demanding rehearsals in total isolation: The creation of a character, and the daily lives of those involved. Psychological abuse and mistreatment by the director, end up bringing the actress to the point where her deepest desires merge into the character she represents: the rabbit.
