In Chapter 7, Randy and Ponyboy have a personal talk between the two of them about Bob and the upcoming rumble. Randy doesn't blame Ponyboy or Johnny about Bob's death, he just wants to tell Ponyboy that he was a better person than it seemed. Randy also says that he won't be at the rumble because he doesn't think fighting will change anything.
