One farm-raised fish is catfish. The price of this catfish is $6.99 per pound.
The advantages of farm-raised fish are the fish are protected from predators, it has a high efficiency, and they are very available in areas with clean water.
The disadvantages of farm raised fish are water pollution and the output waste from the fish, contaminated water in the tanks, and they can destroy estuaries.
One wild caught fish is shrimp. The price of this shrimp is $12.99 per pound.
The advantages of wild caught fish are that their nutrition is higher from being grown in the wild and eating their own prey, they are also caught in their natural habitat.
The disadvantages of wild caught fish are the pricing of the fish, they are not good on the carbon-footprint .
Two products of being sustainably caught are cod and salmon.
One of the "best choice" of seafood/fish is salmon because they are well managed while being caught.
One "good alternative" for seafood is crab because there can be concerns about how they are caught.
A seafood to "avoid" is cod because it is overfished.
(Kroger- Cumming, GA 10/22/17 Samantha Haley)

      Animals found in meat department:
chicken
cow
turkey
pig
One conventionally raised meat is hotdogs or a chicken/pork combination.
The price of the pack of hotdogs is $3.97.
The advantages of conventional raising is less land use, a higher profit because of how fast the animals grow, and they can reduce soil erosion.
The disadvantages of conventional raising is large inputs of food and water, pollution of water, and antibiotics can increase genetic resistance.
One unconventionally raised meat is organic ground beef.
The price of the ground beef is $7.99.
The advantages of unconventional raising is that the meat has more nutrients, it can reduce the carbon-footprint compared to conventional raising.
The disadvantages of unconventional raising is that it is more expensive for the buyer, it is not all proven to be healthier than the alternative.
Hormones are fed the animals we eat because it helps
them grow faster and become ready to be eaten and processed sooner than it would with out the added hormones.
Antibiotics are given to the animals we eat because it helps them survive in stressful areas like feedlots.
I believe their is a cost difference in conventional and unconventional raising because the unconventional raising needs more land to feed the animals where as the conventional raising can be done with the animals in rooms with the food. The more the land, the more the acres cost so therefore the prices in their grass-fed animals will be more expensive.
