In my understanding all the proverbs are about not trusting a white man 

The first proverb is about a blacksmith coming from another village to expand their knowledge about another village.

The second proverb is about false trust because for me it means the white man might give you a worse or a bad item they have.

1) In my opinion, the proverb is trying say that if you are a blacksmith that mastered all the ways in your village and you move to another village, you would become a blacksmith's apprentice because there are still new things you can learn from other villages.

2) If the white man has a better looking hat and is giving you a dirty hat then that could mean that they are looking down on you.

☆ In my own understanding of the first proverb, being a blacksmith is important, if you want to be a blacksmith you have to learn from one. and that culture passes from generation to generation.

☆ don't be gullible and if a person is judging you think if they are better than you before you get affected.

☆ just because you are sitting on something extravagant does not mean you are superior amongst others, what matters more is the leadership and the personality inside you that make you valid to become the reliable and trustworthy leader for that specific group.
