Mostly recently, I’ve worked closely with UKHSA to understand protective immunity against COVID-19.

My name is Flavia and I am a Senior Bioinformatician in the GSTT Translational Bioinformatics Platform. Within my role I support research studies with bits of code to analyse complex dataset, especially microbial data.
 
I am passionate about science and the environment and how they link with health. I have a non-conventional health path starting with working in the marine environment from big organisms and moving into bacteria and viruses. My career path in bioinformatics allowed me to live and work in various countries moving from Italy to the UK to South Africa and back to the UK where my career path was set into health research (never forgetting how the environment can impact our health) . 
 

In the NHS I was able to work with projects aimed at improve women and children’s health and gave me the opportuntiy to run science workshops 
 
 
When I am not at work you can usually found me reading, drawing or at one of the many theatres or London galleries. Arts and Science are my two big loves.

When not at work, I play a lot of football and teach guitar.

If you asked to pick a favourite book or cartoon, I wouldn't be able to pick one since they are all very good. I am also very competitive and wouldn't mind playing any sport but I love playing volleyball (because of an anime series I watched).

In the future, I'm not sure what specific job I should apply for but all I know is that my options are either going into the medical field or entering the financial side of society such as investing in stocks and trades or digital currency such as Bitcoin.
