Will adding technology in my Elementary classrooms lead to non-productive struggle and frustration in my students? Will using technology help better prepare my students for this modern world they are growing up in?

I personally wouldn't think it would cause frustration because I believe in this day and age everything is so technology based. I think the earlier you can introduce technology to kids the better of they will be because most of the best teaching formats are web based. Which means if they are introduced early on their skills will just continue to advance. Also a lot of educational games are available on tablets and other educational devices.

This is a concern that I, myself have as well. I think if used in moderation, technology can be a wonderful source to use in the classroom, however if over used or used for a larger amount of time than what the students brains will allow them to focus for, then that is when it could become an issue. Kids do not have a long attention span, so when they are doing something you have to keep it short and to the point or you will lose their attention, and that is when they would not learn.

Knowing that even I become frustrated with technology assures me that students will most likely become frustrated, too. With that being said, I think it is still important to incorporate technology as the world evolves to rely on technology. To combat this frustration, I think it would be important to set aside time to walk students through the tools they will be using. Allow other students to help as well. This keeps that face to face interaction within the world on online learning.

Landry,
I understand where you're coming from. I get frustrated all the time with technology, and our students will be no different. I believe that technology, no matter how frustrating, is something that students need to learn. Like you said, they're growing up in it. Overall I would just make sure that you are being careful with what lessons you pick for your students to learn.

From my observations, technology has benefited elementary classrooms. I have seen them use ipads, smart-boards,etc, and the execution seemed to work well. During the time of quarantine, having the students familiar with technology seems to benefit rather than hinder their education.

Landry,
I completely understand your struggle with technology. I think that adding technology can be beneficial when using it correctly. I think you should give them a set time on how long they're allowed to use it. I think if they are very limited on what they get to use hopefully they will be prepared for their future.
