I use Quizizz quite a bit for quick, and fun, assessments for students. I can create my own or choose from thousands that are already teacher created. (I edit them to make sure they are correct.) Also creating a spelling style test in Quizizz is perfect for SPED students. The kids love it because it is competitive. Yes there are those students who will get frustrated, but its easy to start the game again. My students BEG for Quizizz.

I often have them write on their individual white boards while on the carpet so I can easily see who is on the right track and who needs help, and quickly redirect them. For reading concepts I'll make an anchor chart for that particular concept (ex. main idea, inferences/conclusions, facts, etc). After the story I'll have them write the main idea, fact, conclusion, etc. on a post it and add it to the chart. They also write their name on the post it so I can easily see who "got it" it and who didn't. I can call the ones who need extra instruction to teacher table during Daily 5.

I have really enjoyed the exit slip method utilizing sticky notes because it is a simple and effective way to get instant and valuable information about my students knowledge of the content as well as their thought process. In first grade, it is a great way to organize my small group intervention groups for daily 3 and daily five.

It really gives me a better insight into how to help them individually because I am not just looking at a grade, but looking at the thoughts and feelings of the student behind the grades.

My students love explaining why they chose their answer. I also see them really understanding why their answer was incorrect. I call the activity 4 Corners. I have the student to go to the corner of the answer they chose. AF BG CH and DJ. They have to talk with other students in their group that chose the same answer and tell why they chose it. They love it. I'm looking forward to trying others as well.Thank you
