Today We Did A History Project About Singapore ( Temasek ) Before 1819
Let Me Tell You About It ,
World Of Temasek is set in the year 1351 cent, a time when the power and wealth of Temasek was known far and wide. Surprisingly, the history of this 14th century city has until recently been of little interest to Singaporeans. The general perception was that Singapore had always been a small fishing village before the British East India Company chose the island for a trading port in 1819. Two decades of archaeological digs and scholarly research have revealed otherwise. We know now that a thriving, cosmopolitan trade port existed in Singapore in the 14th century, a city that became wealthy by serving as an important port of call for richly laden trade ships plying the pirate-infested waters of the Malacca Straits region.
